MAKE MY DAY!

i don't know about the rest of y'all, but texas usually does everything with a BANG!

although i have it on very good authority that in most places i've been and spoken with law enforcement personnel, if you do this and drag the person into your house you have a very good chance of getting away with it...zippenzeelippenzee...shhhhhhhhh...you didn't hear that from me...

Nice S&W mag pic there Nanc! I bought a 10mm last month with enough firepower to match a 44mag if I used the right ammo. We have a "shoot first ask questions later" law here in GA! I love it!

nanc said...

in some places in the south i've heard there are some shoot now and try to find all the pieces if you can unwritten law, flo.

btw - that's not my .357 - it's a snag job as farmer would call it.

here's mine, farmer.

Yowzer! Now that is a pretty little thing! Not at all unwieldy. My compliments to your armourer.

I don't mean to brag, but I go for long guns myself. I'm not a pistol kinda guy. Besides, most of the people I hang out with are much more deadly with pencils, or even their bare hands, than they are with lead propellant devices.

I guess that proves that I am not one of them. ;-)

i much prefer one of these - holds more in the clip and i'm a much better shot...you know, more bullets to choose from and all...

Versatility, FJ, versatility.

Long arms are my passion but those of lesser length represent the Boy Scout Motto in action.

It takes years to master any form of hand to hand combat, or any hand weapon, be it a knife or a club. It also takes a bloody mindedness that makes you willing to close with an antagonist and wield mayhem.

You pull out your knife and stick someone and they start yelling. So you stick them again and they yell louder, so you stick them again. One good stick deserves another and pretty soon you have one of those stories you read in the paper, (The victim had twenty nine stab wounds to the face, neck, hands, chest and forehead!), and you've ruined a perfectly good John Varvatos, Cashmere henley & shoes that you bought from the Bergdorf Goodman Men's Store, (a real buy at $498.00 plus $365.00 for the loafers).

(Or in my case a cotton work uniform from Cintas and a pair of steel toed insulated boots from Walmart.)

FLORIAN said...

WHOA!!! You have a S&W 990L series?
I'd love to buy a .40 in that series. I've got an .40MP from S&W. 15 rounds and it's great--but so is my Glock 10mm.

What the hell happened over at MZ's? Beamish kicked the dust off his feet!

On a different note, Indiana now has lifetime concealed carry license. I've went through the process for the last time!

In Indiana, you have the right to use deadly force against intruders and do not have to retreat before using deadly force to prevent serious bodily injury to yourself or someone else.

At the time the law was enacted, only Florida and South Dakota, had a deadly force law.

Under the old law, Indiana did not previously require residents to retreat before using deadly force but the new law clarified state law and prevented courts from determining that Hoosiers should run before using a gun.

The old law stated that Hoosiers could use deadly force if they believed that they or someone else were in danger of serious injury or death. You cannot be sued for shooting someone that breaks into your house, (especially if they are dead!)

nanc said...

what on earth did what happened at madze's have to do with this?

beamish and madze will always be allies through any skirmish. my goodness - they've been that way for two or so years that i know of. we don't allow our differences to separate u.s. on the larger issues - madze just said "no debating on Jesus." okay - shake the dirt off and start a new game.

let's talk gunz!

nanc said...

warren - that's what i was talking about - if you catch someone breaking in, you could use deadly force, hoping they'd fall INTO your house, but if they fell out into the rosebushes - for pete's sake - pick'em up and shove them through the window!

Warren said...

"for pete's sake - pick'em up and shove them through the window!"

Even so, I think its best if all the holes are in the front side and not the back!
:^)

Reminds me of the special orders for the nuclear containment area... how did that go??? I think it was shoot them three times then yell HALT!

(or was that...)

nanc, you are quite the tease. That is a beautiful lttle S&W... again very handy. A woman who knows her guns as well as you do belongs on somebodies security detail.

As for close up, terrible shots like me break out the old Mossberg 12-gauge w/some 0 or 00. It may have a 30" vent-rib barrel right now but that can be corrected in about five minutes if need be (And no, I don't mean starting from the moment the door handle starts jiggling). Besides, if I load a "Dragonsbreath" round somewhere in the mix, anybody with any brains will start running for the hills the moment that one goes off. It's purely for psych... kinda like Oddball's Sherman paint rounds in Kelly's Heroes. I know, it's stupid, but I learned all about softkills from watching the Brits. If I'm going to get my ticket punched, I'm going out as stupidly as possible.

oh plucky! perhaps because of the people who AREN'T there?

farmer - i like a little twenty-two rifle actually for target and shooting animals who take an agressive stance toward one of my animals - not good for bear, however. remind me to tell you that story sometime...

we have a 12 guage, but i don't like it.

How do you think I got to be President?
Only prob with this law is you get your hands all bloody draggin `em in, and then the dog starts to...ah, you know. We`re working on that though.

So do I. I've got a little Ruger 10/22 with a couple of 50 round clips

nancpop found one very similar to this, buried in mud in mississippi with the bayonet attached - it's hanging on a couple of sets of deer horns at the cabin.

which reminds me, i still need to send a picture of it to warren so he may be able to tell us more about it.

i like that dragon's breath - where can we get some for the fourth of july?

I like the gun shows in Indianapolis and Louisville. Both of them draw vendors and dealers from across the Midwest.

Need a thousand rounds of .223 or 7.62 X 51, walk through the show and compare prices, then haggle a little. Looking for a part for grand dads old thumb buster? Someone will have it.

I built my M4 look alike AR15 out of parts from different vendors in Indy.

in the past (as far as i know), nancpop likes to build these, only on a slightly smaller scale. although i've never been hit by, nor fired one - i've heard it hurts.

Texas rocks!

Where’d Ducky go? I guess liberals don’t like ‘gun talk’… They can talk all day about their latest abortion, but God forbid anyone should even think about shooting a rapist!!!

Florian,

I kicked the dirt off my shoes at MZ's due to the impasse created by the "No debating on Jesus" rule in the face of "IM-poster's" rather ignorant, and to my saddened eye, unanswered statements about Him.

"IM-poster" came to "pick on the Christian Zionists."

He can pick on the ones who will sit for it.

This isn't in any way directed as a slight against MZ, but I imagine he himself wouldn't sit still for a similarly biased / blasphemous attack on his own theology.

"IM-poster" gets the last word, fine. The thread was already hijacked and crashed.

No use in looking for the black box now.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Back on topic...

Missouri passed a similar law around a month or so ago, with little or no fanfare.

Now, here's a good weapon to use on people who insist upon coming within 300 yards of your property.

"im-poster" DIDN'T get the last word - i did!

yes, beamish - when i want to slay the beast, known as nancpop - i always put on a bikini!

Nice looking weapon nanc! There was a really good discussion about these at FPM yesterday. The place is being OVERRUN with commies though..

if you think about it, morgan - the commies, lefties, nitwits, dhimmiwittedcrats, all need fpm much more than we do. who the hell do you think they'd argue with if every conservative stepped out of the photo for awhile and just observed?

just a thought - perhaps they'd learn a thing or six if they weren't too busy yapping!

Well today is going to be a shootin' day for me. I have both my 10mm and my 40 S&W MP and my .38 special. +P ammo....I can't wait to let em' rip.
Anyways, does anybody understand the CCW laws of their states?
It's so darn gray. I know FL has some of the most liberal gun laws in the nation. Here in GA, to give you an idea of how messed up the law is....a convicted felon or rapist can get a CCW (concealed carry permit) but anybody who commits a misdemeanor can't. It should be that anybody who has been convicted of either should be automatically disqualified....Oh well....
That RINO Bloomberg is suing my favorite dealer for supposedly selling guns that made their way into the hands of criminals. I can't stand that b@stard.

Texas has this one right: No retreat! The right to defend home goes way back in history. The libtards can talk sympathy all they want, but their tune changes when they are the victims.

there are posting laws in arkansas - if you take the right measures for legal notification in the newspaper for a certain period of time, post your intentions however many feet (or pink paint on fenceposts or trees) - and someone trespasses with deadly intentions you may shoot them at the gate. at least this is what the locals say, although i've never researched it.

one sure sign - there is pink paint EVERYWHERE and it is unsightly when you see it on a tree or fence post every fifteen or twenty feet. i will not cross these lines.

Indiana is known as a "shall issue" State.

State law forces police chiefs and state sheriffs to give concealed carry permits (CCW) to anyone who can buy a handgun, allowing them to carry loaded, concealed handguns in public. Police cannot require safety or legal training of weapons for CCW applicants. State law allows people as young as 18 years of age to obtain a CCW permit. State law allows residents of of other states which recognize the Indiana CCW license to carry concealed weapons without informing local police.

A felony conviction or DWI will keep you from getting a CCW.

About 8 years ago, the Mayor and Chief of Police of Gary Indiana were taken to court and fined $10,000 each for refusing to issue CCW permits.

My license says:
The licensee is hereby licensed by The Indiana State Police to carry on their person or in a vehicle, any handgun legally possessed by Licensee.

Guns are not registered, you may even borrow one. There are no restrictions on how many guns you can buy in a month, no "assault weapon" laws and you may even own a machine gun if you go through the proper federal channels.

nanc said...

did you have to take a course, warren? you must in arkansas to carry concealed.

(((Thought Criminal))) said...

Missouri honors CCW permits issued in other states.People were circumventing Missouri's convoluted concealed carry permit laws by mail-ordering them from county courthouses in Pennsylvania, who pretty much issue to anybody with money. This was because the social disarmament nuts were gaming the system (we don't have a budget to fund the issuing of CCWs permits, etc.)

The gun-grabbin' SOBs got so ham-fisted that Democrats were driven out of power in the state government and Republican lawmakers have streamlined Missouri's CCW laws just enough to keep Missourian money in Missouri.

Of course, if you didn't assume someone was packin' heat before the CCW permit laws were passed, you had a good chance of being wrong.

Nanc said:
"did you have to take a course, warren? you must in arkansas to carry concealed."

No, and local police are forbidden to require you to take one.

The routine varies a little from city to city and county to county.

If you live inside city limits, the Chief of police must ok the license. If you live outside city limits, the county sheriff must do the honors.

You fill out a State application and possibly a local or county application, depending on what the local policy is. (It has changed here every time a new sheriff or police chief comes into office.) The questions on the state application are about what you would expect on something like a wedding license.

If you have to fill out a local application, they might ask all kinds of stupid questions, ask for personal references and a letter explaining why you want a CCW.

It really doesn't matter, they are required by law to issue the CCW as long as you want it for "self protection". That's the way the law is written.

The local authority has 21 days to approve your application and cannot refuse without cause, (felony conviction or DWI). They then take your fingerprints and you send it off to the State Police which run a State and FBI check on you.

For retired law enforcement and gun dealers, (FFL license holders), its free.

The cost of a license for a plain Joe varies depending on circumstances. You can get a 4 year or lifetime license and the local authority doesn't have to charge you anything, with a maximum of $75 local.

My lifetime license cost $100 total with $60 going local and $40 going to state. If I didn't already have a license, it would have cost me $20 more.

The lifetime license is a new thing and they tell me the backlog is 4 months.

nanc said...

ahhhhhhhh, jumping through hoops!

good morning to you, warren.

if you haven't seen it yet, i've put a pelosi/ellison post up at curtains - that is if you get out and about today.

The Athenians used to put a little statue of Priapus or a Hermeid at their front gates. It announced to the world that tresspassers would get to recreate Ned Beatty's role in "Deliverance" if they were caught tresspassing. Now that was a deterant!
