The sky is falling, we're all going to die! (women and children hardest hit)

Al Gore testified before a House committee on "global warming". Fox News reports:

"The planet has a fever. If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor. If the doctor says you need to intervene here, you don't say, 'well, I read a science fiction novel that tells me it's not a problem,' " Gore said. "If the crib's on fire, you don't speculate that the baby is flame retardant. You take action."

Scott Jacobson, (a wsj reader), questions Gore's premise:
Overreacting is common among parents. I remember one morning when my first child was still an infant. Imagine my horror when I discovered that her temperature had risen to 99.5 degrees, almost a whole degree in just under 12 hours. Naturally, I immediately sat down and built a computer model, which clearly projected that by age 30, her temperature was going to be a staggering 19,710 degrees!

Thankfully, with the help of a patient wife and an impatient pediatrician, I came to realize that these fluctuations were normal, and that my baby daughter would not be going supernova by the time she reached her golden years.

Kelly Murphy, (another wsj reader), puts things in perspective nicely:

So let me see if I have this right. According to Al Gore, I would have to be an idiot to decide, after reading "a science-fiction novel" (he must be referring to "State of Fear") that it's OK to go about living my life in a normal fashion. Instead, I should see one science-fiction movie (his) and run screaming out of the theater prepared to change every aspect of my life to avoid certain destruction.

Ive been doing my part!

Once a week, I throw the unused ice from my icemaker in the back yard.

Not many people realize that every nuclear weapons test that has been conducted on Earth has created a neutron burst aimed directly at an extraterrestrial civilization light years away from our solar system that just happened to be scanning our solar system for signs of life when all of sudden a pattern emerged in the neutron pulses coming from each nuclear test - "Fuck You Little Green Cow Mutilating Bastards" over and over.

Well, they're pissed.

We need to prepare Earth for the coming war with the aliens.

So shut up Al Gore, my theory is more plausible than yours.

How dare you insult a man who has won an Oscar AND been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize!

Always On Watch Two said...

Al Gore is playing the drama queen on steroids. Or maybe he's got PMS--Pissy Male Syndrome.

Okay, now I feel better. My first comment of the day anywhere is an insult.

Mad Zionist said...

Al Gore is constantly thinking of new ways to reinvent himself as an even bigger idiot than he was before.

First he invented the internet. That comment made him a laughing stock, of course, but not a big enough laughing stock for his sake, so he decided to kick it up a notch with GLOBAL WARMING.

Next up: Al Gore KNOWS that aliens (from outer space, not Mexico) are abducting Democrat voters and programing them to be republicans so that they can plot the destruction of the earth.

I think the problem with the left is that they think man is the be all or end all to every situation. The assumption that human activity alone is the cause of every malady on the planet is far fetched.

10 our ot 10 people usually die.

FLORIAN said...

over 7 billion people will die in the 21st century--nothing can be done to stop this from happening.

What does the left want?

Usually NANC?????

Did I miss someone??

Beak said, I think the problem with the left is that they think man is the be all or end all to every situation.

Sounds like humanism to me.

Brooke said...

And most leftists are also humanists.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have discovered the root of the problem!

Global warming is just a offshoot doctrine of the Humanists! LOL!

Gert has launched his latest threat at TMW's. There is zero doubt that Greg is 100% this latest

I deleted said comment after it was seen, classic divide and conquer scheme. Attempting to sow doubt and confusion in the enemy camp(in their minds). That is why I left it up, so that it could be seen and no one would say that I'm hiding something! Now that it has been seen, I removed it. He also is trying this at AoW's, so be aware that they are attempting a different tactic! Private communications may be necessary to keep the Truth up there! But only to clear up any misunderstandings! Do not let these idiots drive us apart, divide and conquer goes back a long ways!

More important I got a hit looking for an obituary for Justin. Is there a way anyone can see if he is allright.

Where is Rob when we need him???

The Merry Widow said...

Beaker-Rob is at work, I called and left a message for him to e-mail me soonest about Justin!
You aren't the only one concerned, but it might be morning before I get an answer. Will let you know as soon as I get any word!

I`m doing my part too.

I drive my kids car with no muffler to work once a week.

when on the mountain, i use my washing machine water to water my garden - just put the drain over a 50 gallon barrel and VOILA! plus, i use liquid, biodegradable soap and almost NEVER have bugs on ANY of my plants with the exception of a tomato hornworm or two and i just mash them and give them to the chickens...and i use NO pesticides other than the granules i spread on the lawn to keep chicks and tiggers down.

but, and that's a BIG BUT, i AM NOT an environmentalist!

beakerkin said...

Justin is alive and well and probably laughing at my expense.
I am glad that hit was some type of fluke.

It did put thinks into perspective.

Always On Watch Two said...

Until late last night, I wasn't aware that Gert had posted the exact same comment at my site.

Yes, it plainly is an attempt at divide and conquer.

As if I'm going to believe anything Gert says? **snerk**

Secular humanism is one of the characteristics of today's left, even today's religious left (Mark Tooley does a good job over at FrontPage exposing those folks) -- but still fear is the galvanizing force. They do not fear God, so they will fear something -- be it bad karma, global warming, global cooling, Western civ, American power, whatever. You can see in the causes of the left a desperate searching for spiritual security with the undergirding philosophy that their own lives are what they fear losing the most.

Russet Shadows said...

Oh, BTW that was a good one Kuhnkat. I think I might borrow it someday.

The Merry Widow said...

RS-You are so right! Secular humanists ONLY have this life and world, soooooo, they have to try and make heaven here, only thing is it gets bumped by the next imperfection! Like the sun heating up!
Now those of us who belive in an afterlife want to be good stewards, BUT this isn't the be all and end all of our existence!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

everything they do should leave them good and empty at the end of a day.

I remember the day I spotted VP Gore at the naval observatory when we were there, conducting an inventory of keying material there. He looks different, and bigger for some reason.

Warren said...

Mickey, my car doesn't have a muffler either. It does help the engine run cooler and all the noise wakes the neighbors up early enough that they don't have to speed to work and burn extra gas!

Steve, let's just say I helped him look a little bigger.

We are doing a special interview on Friday. I had no idea these blog fights were hurting a man's business.

Humor is back and everyone not named John Brown, Socrates or Greg is invited.

way to get on topic, beak~!

That's great!!! I love it:>D And an excellent analogy to bring up when talking with libs.

Mr. Beamish the Kakistocrat said...

Sounds like Warren, Mickey, and I are the muffler-less.

Actually, I'm only missing one (dual exhaust) so I'm only getting the psuedo-glass pack effect out of the left side.

It's always the left that makes noise.
