Most people do not have a clue what leadership is.
Its the ability to inspire, the strength of character to take charge and the willingness to accept the consequences of your actions when you are wrong.
For a glimpse into real leadership, and a great story, read this post by Michael Yon.
A view of the world through bloodshot eyes!
Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.

"oh boo" moment #422.672

okay, so i go out to the garage (aka: the man's place) and nancpop is whittling on an approximately 15" piece of wood.
i ask, "sooooooo, whatcha makin'?", acting extremely interested for sure.
he replies, "a propeller."
i respond, "oh."
quite awhile later, i ask, "soooooooo, what's the propeller for?"
so lovingly, he says, "so as to make your broom over there go a little faster when you go to town!"
...oh boo...

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE TO W.S.C.

famous churchill quotes, most appropriate to the times in which we live:
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
reuter's...
"A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him."
gitmo...
"Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter."
let our military leaders do their jobs...
"Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities... because it is the quality which guarantees all others."
all you cowards, please shut up...
" Danger - if you meet it promptly and without flinching - you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!"
react appropriately, in appropriate measures...
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life."
remember who they hated before they hated you...
"You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else."
ahem...
"When the eagles are silent the parrots begin to jabber."
you know who you are...
"When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home."
dixie chicks, danny glover, nancy pelosy, et.al; please shut up...
"Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."
an emphatic win...no cowering...no bowing to the enemy...
winston, we hardly knew you.

Hurrah!

I finally got my LIFETIME license to carry a concealed weapon.
The end of the four year pilgrimage to the police department.
No more money, no more wasted time while needless paperwork is filled out and ignored, no more fingerprints and stupid FBI checks while some bureaucratic newbe rushes down to check 35 year old files only to find out that there is a file on me because the FBI ran a security clearance on me. No more talking to smarmy civilian employees of the police department who don't know what's going on.
And Russia was saying?
Major leap forward in Iran's nuclear program. If the inspectors are invited to leave, start to use extra deodorant, you may need it.
Iran Is Stepping Up Nuclear Work
Questions now are; what to do? and whether to do it?
I hope there isn't to much dithering, but Pelosi and her Merry Dhimmi Band can't seem to wrap their brains around the fact, that they hate us because we aren't dhimmi, or mohammadin, and they are not sane enough to not use anything they produce.
Well, I can make it easy for them, these people do not look at the world the same way we do, they are not sane, and they are suicidal for their cause!
SO DEAL WITH THEM!

oh boo moment #472 or happy mother's day

we have some close, personal, rel...er...friends who move full grown trees as a business.
believe it or not - it is BIG business in californistan.
when spoiled people build their empire, they DO NOT like starting from a seedling - ANYTHING! that is for us lowlier sorts.
recently, they were commissioned to move a clump of palms from point "a" to point "b". from what i remember of the conversation, the clump of trees (60' tall) weighed nearly 60,000 pounds!
it takes special equipment and much knowledge to get the root wad out of the ground without damaging them. these people have been doing this for years and have yet to lose a tree.
first, the spoiled person must eyeball the tree or trees they want, go to the owner and ply them with dollars and generally the owner of the tree(s) will succumb to the dollar signs. the spoiled person then contacts the tree mover, who says "yea" or "nay".
in this case everybody said, "yea." whoopee! it was the dreamjob of any tree mover and the original owner didn't think it too shabby either - the spoiled person gave them $75,000 for the clump of trees - that's SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND SMACKAROOS!
the cost to move the trees was equal to the price of the trees - i ain't lyin'.
when talking to one of the tree movers what would possess someone to spend this kind of money on trees for crying out loud - his response (paraphrased), "well, apparently, her husband is having an affair with another woman, she won't stand for a divorce, so she's making his life miserable by spending his wealth!"
...oh boo...
people - be good to the mothers in your life, not just on mother's day, but everyday - you just never know...

To be silent or go down trying
As Californiastan goes, so goes the nation.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55558
Truth is often unpleasant, ugly and forces us to rethink ourselves. But to flee Truth makes us cowards. The thing to consider is; are we willing to allow ourselves to be buried alive? Or are we willing to stand and say, "Enough!"?
I have taken that stand by homeschooling and contacting politicians and speaking out, I may be a small voice in the world, but if enough join together, maybe, just maybe someone will hear us.
It has unfortunately, been my experience that too many conservatives and Christians have fallen silent, why? Is it intimidation? Is it a persist belief that it can't happen here? Or to me or mine? Is it because the leftistas are foul-mouthed, vile-minded, perverse, profane, slanderous, and loud?
War is never fun, it is not "nice" and it is messy, bloody and scary. But why are we conceding rather than rolling up our sleeves and getting the job done?
To quote Monteith's toast, "He either fears his fate too much, or his desserts are small, who will not put it to the touch, to win or lose it all."
If you refuse to put it to the touch, YOU LOSE ANYWAY! Why not try? At least you can look yourself in the mirror without shame! And you can't win if you won't try!
Interesting update; Check out Donal's site for an interesting editorial on streetfighting and jihadis here in the US!

R U AN AMERICAN OR JEW?

if you're not, this WILL NOT apply to you, so you can just mosey along...
"Sheik Ahmad Bahr, acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, declared during a Friday sermon at a Sudan mosque that America and Israel will be annihilated and called upon Allah to kill Jews and Americans "to the very Last One". Following are excerpts from the sermon that took place last month, courtesy of MEMRI.
Ahmad Bahr began: "You will be victorious" on the face of this planet. You are the masters of the world on the face of this planet. Yes, [the Koran says that] "you will be victorious," but only "if you are believers." Allah willing, "you will be victorious," while America and Israel will be annihilated. I guarantee you that the power of belief and faith is greater than the power of America and Israel. They are cowards, who are eager for life, while we are eager for death for the sake of Allah. That is why America's nose was rubbed in the mud in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Somalia, and everywhere.
Bahr continued and said that America will be annihilated, while Islam will remain. The Muslims "will be victorious, if you are believers." Oh Muslims, I guarantee you that the power of Allah is greater than America, by whom many are blinded today. Some people are blinded by the power of America. We say to them that with the might of Allah, with the might of His Messenger, and with the power of Allah, we are stronger than America and Israel."
could the intentions of izzies be any clearer? pretty cut and dried - AMERICA AND ISRAEL ARE DESTINED TO BE ANNIHILATED! i see no mincing, chopping or dicing of words there - if you do, you are a fool.
they are eager for death - do we have the intestinal fortitude to give it to them? if U R an american or a jew - do you sincerely believe that somehow you are exempt from this threat? and, why? what makes U so special as to be non-inclusive?
honestly, as i read the news each day from around the world - i cannot and will not believe that so many have succumbed to such stupidity as to believe izlam means u.s. peace! if U believe this, you are doomed to your ignorance.

It’s Getting Hot Out There
A lot of people are talking about global warming these days. The evening news and the Internet are all abuzz. Al Gore did a documentary on it called “An Inconvenient Truth,” that won an Oscar. Representative Ed Markey from Massachusetts referred to Al Gore during some proceedings on Capitol Hill as a “prophet.” It seems years ago Mr. Gore predicted some of the climate difficulties we are facing today. You have to be careful if someone calls you a prophet. A prophet speaks for God, and you better be 100% accurate when you speak for God or there will be some problems coming up in your future. It is better to stick to the other definition of prophet, which is one who proclaims the word, rather than one who foretells the future. As always, we must go to the Word of God to find out what His opinion of global warming and the environment is.One thing we should look at is the plagues that God performed through Moses in Egypt. One of them was the turning of much of the water into blood. Exodus 7:19 says,
“And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.”
God didn’t seem too concerned about the environment when He did that.God sent frogs all across the land in Egypt and then had them die. The Lord also had the cattle and horses of Egypt die. I guess that group called PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), would be having a problem right about then.Exodus 9:24,25 tells us,
“So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.“And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.”
It looks to me like we have a problem here. God doesn’t seem to be as concerned about the environment as some Christians are today. When we go to the New Testament, there are also some plagues that we need to look at. Revelation 8:7-9 says,
“The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.”
It seems God might look at His creation just a little bit differently than we do.Revelation 8:10-12 says,
“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.”
And all of this doesn’t include the many other plagues in the Scriptures, plus famines, and of course a world wide flood. So what can we infer from all of this? One thing we know for sure is that the God of this universe is in complete control. He can decide if He wants to warm the sun up to warm things up here on earth, He can decide if He will allow a tsunami, or turn all waters into blood. The global warming experts of today predicted global cooling just 30 years ago. On the CBS Evening News, I saw Katie Couric quoting a study that the temperature here on earth would rise 7.2 degrees by the year 2100. Recently, I traveled to Iowa and checked the weather forecast five days in advance. They were off by ten degrees on the high, so if they can’t give me the right temperature five days in advance, how can they give the right temperature 90 years in advance?Christians out there do me a favor: Be careful in the coming days! I know Christians who are more concerned about the environment than anything else. We should all care about the environment, but there are things much more important than the temperature outside. Jesus didn’t die so you could have a beautiful yard. Jesus didn’t die so you would have perfect weather for Spring Break. Jesus died because the sins of mankind were, and are, repulsive to a holy God. Jesus died to atone for our sins. Jesus died so we didn’t have to die in our sins. So go ahead and let Jesus worry about the environment. We need to be about the business of seeking and saving those who are lost. Jesus died for those people. Let’s go reach them before they die and go to hell. Make sure you are not known for a beautiful yard in your neighborhood, but make sure you are known as the man or woman of God who cares where every soul in the neighborhood is going to spend eternity. Christians don’t get persecuted because they care about the environment. Christians get persecuted because of their bold stand for Jesus Christ. I do hope some persecution comes your way this spring and summer. Your front yard looks great, but make sure your next door neighbor will be coming to heaven with you.

you all are young enough to recover, but i'm so close to retirement and i just know ::wink:: you'll understand...
my friend, jeff bargholz, was right all along. he took much heat for his stance - but guess what? he's still standing.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, POP!

oh, sure - you all thought our anniversary was new year's eve...so did i...
for many years now, this date has held more water in our relationship - apparently it is the date of either our first date or our first kiss - and to think, i thought we kissed on our first date.
as nancpop so fondly likes to remind me, "what's it been now, 35 or so years?" could be - i went an entire year here awhile back thinking i was one year older than i was so when my birthday time of year rolled around - WHOOOOOOOOOOOPEEEEE - i was actually a year younger!
Lord, it is good being me! as you all know, pop is my ballast, my steady, my anchor, my lover and my best friend in the real world - there really is no better man perfectly suited to my quirky ways. you may ask, "yeah, but does he complete you?" and i respond, "well, remember that 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle you bought at a yard sale a few years ago and you worked on it for a solid month, only to get to the very end to find there was ONE STINKIN' PIECE missing?" need i say more? you just accept the puzzle as it is, imperfections and all so i said to him, "okay, you can stay..." or something like that...
my sincerest thanks to our hairdresser/photographer/magicman/possible reuter's employee - only he and two others hold the original to this particular shot. so far, only one person has threatened blackmail...

CONT. SAGA "ALL HEIL THE QUEEN"...

photo courtesy of blue star chronicles.

"Nancy Pelosi is to world diplomacy what Michael Jordan was to baseball: completely forgettable and unnecessary. But unlike Michael’s slightly amusing foray into the Babe’s world, there’s nothing funny about Pelosi in Damascus. The terrorists and their supporters, who are always looking for weak links and signs that the US does not have the will or backbone to win the war we’re fighting with them, just found a great ally in Madame Speaker.
Among the older members of my extended Syrian family, there was a general attitude that kindness equaled weakness. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe in charity, but that it must be parceled out carefully, because those of ill intent can be quick to take advantage of those they perceive to be gullible and soft. This is what Nancy Pelosi either doesn’t understand, or doesn’t care about: she’s being used by the very people who want to destroy us in another round of window dressing, subterfuge, and deceit. I suspect that Pelosi knows this, but is more intent on trying to undermine the President than in looking at how she could best support national security.
Let’s look at the record. Syria has admitted that it has financially supported Hezbollah and Hamas, but says that it doesn’t supply them with arms. What’s the difference? What do you think these groups buy with the money? How many Israeli and Lebanese men, women and children have been slaughtered because of Syrian backing of these groups? And who do you think Syria supports across the border in Iraq: our troops or the terrorists some blithely refer to as “insurgents”? Without the direct involvement of Syria and Iran, the current terrorism movement in Iraq would have considerably less groundswell."
fresh in from american congress for truth.
if you cannot believe a homey, who can you believe?
emilio karim dabul makes some very pointed statements regarding his former countrymen - i would encourage each of you to take these words to heart - in particular, "The problem is she’s not just hurting the President, she’s betraying our troops, and everyone around the world at risk to terrorist attacks, which is most of us."
syria is the very essence of evil nancy understands all too well. if she plays her cards right, they may well allow her to keep her crown - provided it is covering her burka! burqa! burkha! regardless of how you spell it!
2 thess 2:11-on. come on - break that gold binding and see if i'm wrong...
