"oh boo" moment 2007.19.7

i don't know about you, but these moments are happening with such frequency that i am barely able to keep track of them.

yesterday afternoon, while cleaning the garage, nancson came out to the garage and somewhat angrily asked me, "mom, does anyone in your blogging group call you "butterball"?" he's very protective of me.

wellllllll, i said, "not to my face! why?"

"mom, some man just called asking for "butterball", and i said there was nobody here by that name. i hope it wasn't one of your friends."

a little while later as i was entering the house, he squealed, "MOMMMMMMM! the guy called back and asked for "butterball"! if he calls again, i'm going to say NO, sorry "butterball" is very busy right now, but i might have another girl in the back you could talk to! how about cupcake - you want to talk to cupcake?"

and he proceeded to ramble and mumble on about what he would say if the guy called back, some of it not pretty.

that said, i reminded him there is a "butterball" turkey plant nearby and he probably had the wrong number.

...oh boo...

"Butterball"! LOL!

I'm sure the guy had the wrong number. My number is very close to that of a local grocery store, so we get calls for "HEB" all the time. I think I prefer "Butterball." It's funnier!

Have a blessed day. :)

i dub thee "gayleforcewind"!

well, since we're giving out nicknames...

"Lardbutt?", Well if you insist, however, maybe in public we can say "Crisco?"

We've never gotten a butterball call. But for years, we'd get calls for XXX (my husband's name, complete with middle initial). Apparently XXX worked for some hoity-toity newspaper (Tribune?) and lived in the same town as ours. We were glad when that reporter moved. Our phone used to ring at all hours of the day and night!

My grandmother used to get calls from a portrait studio because, one year, the phone company mispublished their number on in the phone book--reversing a couple of digits. It was a mighty long year before that number got changed!

You might check to see if Butterball has a mispublished number.

i've been called "olive oyl" all my life by my uncle fred...when we went to california a few weeks ago, it was the first time i remember in ages and ages that he didn't call me that - could be because i'm starting to look like crisco?

nanc said...

tmw?

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!

Now nanc, if my wife had answered the phone at our house and someone asked for "Butterball" she wouldn't have blinked an eye ... as she handed the phone to me. ;-)

we had a private line at one of my favorite jobs about 25 years or so ago and my then boyfriend would call me on that line at a particular each day and i'd answer in my phone voice, "hello you gorgeous hunk of man!"

WELL! one day i answered it that way and it was a call from a friend of my boss who was in the secret service - he asked for him and i said, "sorry, wrong number!"

it was quite the joke in the office until i ultimately did something equally or more silly...

...oh boo...

My Mom's number is one off of a very good local Chinese restaurant.

When I was a teen I used to get a kick out of taking folk's take-out orders...

What can I say? Teenagers are mean.

So Nanc, was he at least flattered? ;)

i don't know - i hung up so fast so as not to find out!

Whatever happened to "Thunder Thighs"? Its better to be specific rather than pick on the whole package.

Golly, I like that term. Do you think its old fashioned?
