JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia - Former Vice President
Al Gore told a mainly Saudi audience on Sunday that the U.S. government committed "terrible abuses" against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment.

Gore said Arabs had been "indiscriminately rounded up" and held in "unforgivable" conditions. The former vice president said the Bush administration was playing into al-Qaida's hands by routinely blocking Saudi visa applications.
"The thoughtless way in which visas are now handled, that is a mistake," Gore said during the Jiddah Economic Forum. "The worst thing we can possibly do is to cut off the channels of friendship and mutual understanding between Saudi Arabia and the United States."
Gore told the largely Saudi audience, many of them educated at U.S. universities, that Arabs in the United States had been "indiscriminately rounded up, often on minor charges of overstaying a visa or not having a green card in proper order, and held in conditions that were just unforgivable."

Why didn't Gore just put a sign on his back that said "KICK ME" and then walk into a Republican rally?
Uh, oh. We better not give him any ideas...
I hear that Dick Cheney asked him to go hunting....

"I hear that Dick Cheney asked him to go hunting...."
LMAO!!
i'd be willing to bet the "strange but true" people are tailing gore. at the very least for the next millenium's trivia fare.
I think that the 2000 election unhinged him!
He started out as a pro-gun, pro-life Democrat and as he aspired to national politics, he "grew", as Democrats say.
Unfortunately, (for him), growing consisted of his brain swelling.
I remember interviews during the 2000 election run up. Both Gore and Bush were asked what they would do if they lost the election. Bush said that he would return to his ranch in Texas and continue his life as he always had. Gore rambled on about how his whole life was focused on being president, how he was "raised" to be the president and he seemed unable to comprehend a life where he wasn't president.
He still can't seem to comprehend that he isn't the president.
Next time for sure! (Oh Yea!)
Nanc, the strange part defiantly.
On a side note, bets are that he made about $250k for that speech. Guess he ran out of Buddhists to shake down and the Saudis haven't figured out that they're backing a loser.
Nasty piece of work he is.
His latest antics are downright seditious.
(BTW - it's me Felis)
Had to change my "visiting alias" as some of my fans follow me around and troll my friends sites)
Missinglink,
I'm not worried about trolls. I have ways of dealing with them.
Use whichever screen name you wish. I knew it was someone from your site, I just didn't know it was you.
;^)
I really believe that Gore is going to end up in the looney bin!
it probably was the 2000 election. i believe that if he stuck to his ideology and not go so insane, that if he ran again in 2004, i think he would have won.
DM, honestly, I have a problem with professional politicians anyway.
They make a living telling people what they want to hear. In effect, we have made the Kings fool, King, and we can only say "off with his head" once every four years.
Oh well...
Winston Churchill, said:
"Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."
He also said some words that Albert Gore Jr, should have taken to heart:
"When I am abroad, I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home."
Well, Elijah, you probably know this but for everyone else, actually it was bird shot.
Buck shot is extremely large, from 1/4 (.25) to 1/3 (.36) inch in diameter.
They were probably using #6 or #8 shot which has a diameter of .11 and.09 inches respectively. A bb has a diameter of .17 inches. So you can see that the bird shot pellets are close to half the diameter of a bb.
If you used buck shot on a quail, there wouldn't be enough left to eat.
Most likely, the pellet that caused the heart problem traveled through his blood stream and migrated to his heart.
A few years ago, (locally), a boy shot another boy with a bb gun and the bb migrated to his brain and caused a stroke which killed him a few days later.
which reminds me of a story...
