illegal immigration or cheap tomatoes

definition of immigration: To enter and settle in a country or region to which one is not native.

excuse me, but this country was entered and settled here a few years back, thank you.

courtesy and hat tip to zinla:

"From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower social economic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc.where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

One hundred percent of the students in this school and other Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones.

The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center; half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them Putas (whores) and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

I support president Bush, but on this issue, he and everyone else voting things this way is a certain way to disaster.

To my bleeding-heart liberal friends who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to spend less for tomatoes spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, Medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.
We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.

Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about " politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it."

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under". ~Ronald Reagan"

thank you socialist freaks.

all emphasis mine throughout.

Nanc- Great post! Sooooo true. My neighbor behind me is ex-AF, his wife was in for 20 yrs. She is now reserve. Now she is the oldest of 6 children, her parents came legally to the US, may have been here longer, anyway they are legal citizens. I have met her parents, they speak English, because it is the language of the country. Her dad owns a roofing company in Texas, they are not happy with illegals. These are all hard working, tax paying American's! This would infuriate them! It's their money too!
Why can't people understand that my problem is with the illegal part? And the waste, and the treason?

Plato "The Laws"...

Any one who likes may come and be a metic on certain conditions; a foreigner, if he likes, and is able to settle, may dwell in the land, but he must practise an art, and not abide more than twenty years from the time at which he has registered himself; and he shall pay no sojourner's tax, however small, except good conduct, nor any other tax for buying and selling. But when the twenty years have expired, he shall take his property with him and depart. And if in the course of these years he should chance to distinguish himself by any considerable benefit which he confers on the state, and he thinks that he can persuade the council and assembly, either to grant him delay in leaving the country, or to allow him to remain for the whole of his life, let him go and persuade the city, and whatever they assent to at his instance shall take effect. For the children of the metics, being artisans, and of fifteen years of age, let the time of their sojourn commence after their fifteenth year; and let them remain for twenty years, and then go where they like; but any of them who wishes to remain, may do so, if he can persuade the council and assembly. And if he depart, let him erase all the entries which have been made by him in the register kept by the magistrates.

I have no doubt that history will regard this as the single biggest failure of our nation. Whether or not we survive it...

I love my children dearly, and I fear for their future! What sort of world will they inherit?

Regarding Bush, I have dropped support for him entirely. It's becoming more difficult to look at a fellow blogger who supports Bush and then me say, "I agree with Bush as well."

If a ham sandwich and Bush were up for re-election, including the Dem candidates, which one of them do you think I would choose?

Yep, you're right. As long as it doesn't come with mayo. If it did, I would just stay at home on voting day.

a goodly portion of u.s. are fed up with bush the younger, steve. i've tried to stand behind him in his efforts, but when the bad (roadmap to peace) started outweighing the good - i found myself without a president.

and the entire condi thing has had me tied in knots as she supports the balestinians - hindsight is 20/20. knowing what i know now then - i would have stayed home on election day.

i cannot abide by his and his admin's incompetencies like the left does when their people screw up.

he is the president and i do ask that G-d have mercy on him.

How about an emigration policy? I think it is time we considered deporting people like Ducky to North Korea. The notion that born US citizens can not be stripped of citizenship is flawed and should be changed.

This is much better than the historic way of dealing with his kind " criminal syndicationalism".

Dukkky it must hurt being so dumb.

elbro? not sure, but wouldn't that require cerebral matter? if so, that would leave the plucky one free of pain!

elmers brother said...

no he feels pain...did you see him crying over Castro being dragged behind a motorboat like Weekend at Bernies..Dukkky said he just lies there but it's okay anyway

I don't really like tomatoes.

A dose of reality though is this, neither party wants to end illegal immigration.

Republicans tend to be business owners who like the cheap labour.

and Democrats know that they will vote for them.

'scuse me, rob? 'splain yourself lucy:

"Republicans tend to be business owners who like the cheap labour."

my parents are so far to the left, they meet the far right radi's and we had an illegal nanny as children - our orders, "shhhhh, don't tell anybody!"

of course, my mother threatened to kill us and tell G-d we died, perhaps i dreamt it up...

nope, my siblings remember the same things.

I don't own a business yet I want to end it and this would hurt my wife's sisters family. They own a fruit farm in Michigan.

I think we should nullify the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and finish conquering Mexico.

Democrats and their wars, always half-ass.

Nanc,
Excellent post!

The costs of illegal immigration far outweigh any "benefits."

Now, I don't deny that many immigrants are hard workers. But they're children fall into the "at-risk" group.

nanc said...

ben - i do believe we all voted for him...he's disappointed us - we're allowed to say that.

an unchecked child will run wild on you - bush needs a spanking from his base before the dhimmiwittedcrats get hold of him - toughen him up! none of us hate him. well except for the plucky one and he hates everybody.

thanks aow, zin sent it to me and it is timely - hell, it was timely forty five years ago.

Bens,
I don't believe anyone here is calling GWB a traitor but many of us are sorely disappointed and worried,

I voted for GWB because the alternative was unthinkable. I had never voted for a Democrat or a Republican for President before and I have voted in every election since I reached majority.

I don't know GWB or DC but I know someone who does, someone whose son knows them quite well and I have been assured that they are both upright individuals.

The real test of GWB will be the next two years, will he provide leadership or will he rubberstamp the wish list of the Democrats. He has the power to hold them at arms length, they can do nothing unless he acquiesce to their agenda and signs the legislation they pass . They don't have a veto proof majority. Given the blue dogs, they won't even have a working majority on social legislation.

I'm disappointed with the way the war has been run. I was hoping for more of a Japanese or German model, that we would force a constitution on them. Instead it seems that GWB was more concerned with hurting their feelings than winning a war.

Now people like the Duck think they have won a great victory, (don't make me laugh,) and live "the life of the mind", (otherwise known as delusional psychosis).

Regardless of what Democrats or Republicans want, vis a vis illegal immigration, its up to us to remain vocal and not let them force amnesty down our throats.

GWB has failed in leadership!

I like the position Bush has placed America's military in. We've got over 145,000 troops within 430 miles of downtown Tehran, and the ONLY thing stopping them from handing Ahmadinejad his nuts is that they haven't been ordered to, yet.

So give the order, Bush!

Nanc, it's a general statement, there are exceptions to the rule, sure some liberals are business owners, the fact remains business is all about the bottom line, cheaper labour, means more profits, it's a simple case of economics.

Since when did it become unamerican to criticize our leaders? If we disagree with them as Americans we have every right in the world to voice our opinions, that's called Freedom!

elmers brother said...

Rob,

I don't think anyone is suggest that you are unAmerican or unpatriotic.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that either EB, but i do believe if we disagree with Political leaders, everyone has a right to say what they disagree with them about.

I bash Bush and republicans as much as i will bash Uncle Teddy and Dumbacrats.

nanc said...

i believe it's our duty as americans and patriots to keep our elected leaders in check - i've not called anybody unamerican or unpatriotic here, rob. healthy dissent is one thing and foul and ugly mudslinging is quite another.

there is a great chasm between how the left and right react or even deal with their leaders. the rules are not the same for some of us.

we're not the ones hurling pies at speakers on our college campuses. we don't slice tires to keep people from elections. we don't burn multimillion dollar homes in order to liberate the earth. we are the people who drive spikes into giant redwoods to keep loggers from cutting them down.

conservatives are generally not nuttier than squirrel crappe. we appreciate civilized dialogue.

i have twice as many years on me as you, rob - and i grew up in an extreme leftwing home - i can tell the difference.

while my mother calls bush a dirty, rotten, no good s.o.b because of hatred of anything right - i display my disappointment in him in an entirely different mode.

My area is becoming inundated with illegal immigrants. I've already reported Waynesboro Nurseries to ICE for having illegal immigrant shanties behind their business.

Well folks, I call a "spade", a "spade".
Ya'all need to pay attention to what Bush and his co-conspirators at the CFR have been up to, along with Mexico and Canada, and then tell me this isn't a treasonous conspiracy!
Bush and company are conspiring,{without oversight of congress or permission of the people}, to create a North American union with Mexico and Canada within the next ten years!
The time to stop this sob is now!
What a great concept that would be,.....open borders with Mexico and Canada! A socialist, banana republic HELL!!

George Bush has betrayed the American people and split the republican party.

Although I supported going to war in Iraq, I think Bush screwed that up too, by fighting a pc war.

I have no faith in Bush because he refuses to enforce our immigration laws and secure the border.
If he had any guts he would put REAL armed troops on the border and tell Mexico that they have orders to shoot to kill any one who crosses over without permission.

Bush is a chicken-shit, treasonous, one world order sob.

And guess what? Just watch him now start kissing ass with the demon rats to get his agenda through,.....mark my words.
