Site Meter

I doubt that anyone has noticed, I installed Site Meter a few days ago.

I did it out of curiosity. I wondered who would look at my blog, that I didn't know, and why they were looking.

No longer than its been installed, I have found the information quite interesting but somewhat confusing.

I found out that Elijah has viewed the blog even if he is still unable to post. Elijah, take my advice and install Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox and your browser will quit crashing.

I found a view from Singapore from a search engine. But the search terms seem to give an impossibly high search rating for my blog based only on the last part of an Email address, (inside a linked article and similar to returning results for every Email address at a given domain). The search engine gave my blog a 4th place in the list even though the address was only listed one time.

A view from a robot spammer out of England that's pushing Viagra. Unable to get past word verification it moved on to another blog.

A view from a domain that I had noticed at Beaks right after he installed Site Meter and 167 and his minions were trolling around. Possibly no linkage, the domain is in the eastern US.

"Anum", seems to be using more sophisticated means of misdirection than a person that represents their self as "it" does would be capable of but not as slick as a pro.

Altogether quite interesting.

At least until it begins to bore me.

I check my stat meter from time to time. I've noticed the same about Anum's stats. In fact, Anum bragged a bit about being able to disguise stats.

Disguising your IP addy is relatively easy to do.

why would people want to be so sneaky? guess i haven't quite figured out the rest of the game!

Somebody uses my blog as jumping point to other blogs. Well, two people do. Me, and the Nancster.

hehehe

everyone needs a home plate...it's where my hoveround is parked...hehehehe...and i don't mean the one they show on t.v. - it's the original...

i'm going to try something new. although i usually resist change, i'm willing to drop one habit for another. ocd - it's hereditary and i like keeping it in the family.

Warren,
Disguising your IP addy is relatively easy to do.

So I'm learning.

what i want to know is WHY would anybody want to disguise their ip? are people that deceptive? or am i that naive? oy, i don't like these new internet games...

I'll go into it later.

i just know fern loves his proposed avatar! it is the best - and those eyes say it all, not like marty feldman eyes, but telling for sure. thank you warren, you are now one of the masters!

Nanc, You're welcome, it was fun.

A lot of people misdirect their IP address. They may be worried about being monitored by law-enforcement officials.
Warren...do me a favor, check my IP, I would like to see if it matches up.

Anums comes from a Federal facility in MD. She has been at my blog a while. It is no big concern
and let her post as she wishes.

Our friend 167 has accused me of sending him emails. This is amusing because I haven't sent him any nor have I given him space. Of course he didn't produce these emails but he is a known liar.

Nanc,
I'm going to use a previous graphic, but I've got a different text. I can't let MTP's b'day go by unnoticed.

A C,

Just got home from work.

You can go into Site Meter on any blog that has the logo, (premium has the option of not showing), and look at the same stats I see.

If you click on the "Who's On?", link/tab/button (whatever) right after you connect, it will show you on top of the list.

welcome home from work, warren - the party has begun at aow's - i must stay ahead of schedule as i work tomorrow.

In most case IP's are given at random these days by DHCP servers.

You will find my logins from several diffent places but it dosn't mean I am trying to be sneaky. ;-)

nanc said...

i wonder where brownieboy was logging from? now, there is a sneaky character.

Warren said...

Logging out and back in or power up and down only change the last set or couple of set of numbers and a simple whois search will show the domain and general area of a home based system.

Most places that have wireless, where anyone can log in, (restaurants etc.) will return a "domain unknown" or "private network".

There are places that you can go that redirect your query and mask your IP through theirs. There are computer programs that Anonymize your computer and return false information. Some people actually pay for a static IP address. If you have a dialup connection, your IP changes every time you hook up.

Dedicated hackers use several masks that redirect their queries so that the last IP might show a Russian IP for someone next door down, routed through Leeds in England by way of Mexico.

Trolls aren't that sophisticated.

There are several different "flavors" of these Internet pests.

Nowadays, hackers, generally aren't interested in you as an individual. They tend to use programs and through various methods gather information from your computer, account numbers etc, or they might store a porn site on your hard drive and run a business off of your computer, or use your computer as a robot in a "denial of service" attack on someone else's system.

Crackers, get a kick out of breaking someone's security, the bigger the better, They call their ventures, "exploits", and they do it mainly for the thrill and bragging rights. They also like to break each others security, just for fun.

Script kiddies, like to hack peoples web sites, message boards, blogs, etc. If they can't do that, they look for security faults in the html code and just screw it up. I remember one that installed a string of code that played an annoying midi file over and over....

Trolls, the lowest of the low! They simply will do anything to be annoying. When you have a repeat offender, its usually a sign of mental aberration. I know that some people think I'm kidding when I call John brownstain an Internet obscene phone caller or pervert, but I'm serious as a heart attack!

I have several reasons for believing this but it would take up too much time to explain. I firmly believe that he was getting off sexually while he was trying to shock everyone.

Nanc, Beak thinks he was out of somewhere in California, I have reason to believe he was in Galveston TX.

nanc said...

well, i like keeping my plate full, but i'd hate to think i was in that much need of satisfaction. guess i'm so new to the game that i cannot believe grown people would resort to such low levels. hell, i don't even know how to get my avatar to post with my messages! i will need your help.

nanc said...

p.s. i did know how to google until fern did his article on google and now we yahoo! google is only for emergencies.

Warren said...

OK Nanc, I'll get you fixed up.

In the upper left hand corner of every Blogger main page is a white "B" in an orange box. Click on it.

This takes you to the Blogger "Dashboard".

On the right side of the page it says "Edit Profile" click on it.

This takes you to the "Edit User Profile" page.

Scroll down the page to where it says "Photograph".

To the right of where it says "Photo URL" either type in or cut and paste the URL of Your avatar.
Either the first one:
http://host.jwcinc.net/610407/Contrae-l.jpg (That's an "L", in front of the ".jpg" not a 1)

or the second:
http://host.jwcinc.net/610407/Contrae-2.jpg

If you highlight and copy the URL of the one you want before you start changing pages it will make it easier because all you will have to do is click in the box, then right click in the box and paste the URL in.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Profile" button.

That's it!

I'll host your avatar as long as I have storage or if you decide to host it somewhere else, you can return to the Edit Profile page and change the URL.

Right click on the Image on my blog and save it to your computer in case something happens to my server. Open a Gmail account if you don't have one and send it to yourself as an attachment and let google store it for you. That way if your computer should ever go to that great recycling bin in the sky, you will still have a copy of the image.

Elmer's Brother,

Thanks for stopping by.

" cats also pee and leave the house...good riddance..."

LOL, Nanc has to see that!

AOW is a friend and she had enough problems already!

I was happy to do it and rest assured that I will continue to watch her back. I believe she does very important work and this is the least I can do to help.

:^)
