A letter to the editor

Sometimes when you have despaired of the poor excuse our children and young adults have received for an education, a jewel shines forth. We meet someone like DM, who has his head screwed on right, or read one of AOWs posts, where she has reprinted the work of one of her students, and you come to the realization that things aren't quite as bad as they seem.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

What leaders do on their own time is a private matter

Because I am 17 years old, some people might say that I am not mature enough to understand many issues. However, let me just say that I get more laughs reading the opinion page than I ever have from the comics.

Delawareans seem to be fixated on bashing President Bush and proposing new conspiracy theories whenever they seem convenient.

President Bush did not cause Hurricane Katrina or the complications afterwards. New Orleans was built below sea level so they should have seen it coming and made preparations themselves.
if Dick Cheney shoots someone by accident on his own time, it is none of your business and neither he nor the president has any obligation to tell you about it.

Finally, it seems unreasonable to me that Bush was able to graduate from Yale University, be elected governor of Texas, and earn the respect and confidence of enough of his peers in the Republican Party to be nominated as their presidential candidate if he is indeed as dim-witted as you say.

I am willing to wager that the majority of Delawareans who get their information from this sorry excuse for a newspaper have barely enough brainpower to govern their own lives, let alone governing a nation of almost 300 million.

this kid is spot on. he focuses primarily on the delaware newspaper and the people of the state, but the fact of the matter is that these stories hit everywhere and people bought it.

DM, checked your Email lately?

Its always nice to read where the kid has pointed out that the emperor has no clothes! ;^)

i just did. fortunately i was able to find this online. perfect for the crazy drummer in me. i did save it to my comp just in case the site flops off the internet tomorrow. funny thing is, this came from a 100% hebrew website of the muppet show.

young people such as this kid are definitely hard to come by. i'm believing my own children will strike a course and not be in fear of retaliation from the left. so far, so good. at nearly 14 and 15, they are somewhat active now. they are christian zionists and take quite a bit of heat for that on a regular basis. we are so puffed up over our babies at nanchouse.

Warren,
Thank you for the high compliment! I love teaching. In fact, I never seriously entertained the idea of doing anything else for a career. The desire to become a teacher was born in me when I was became a Christian. And neither of my parents was a teacher (by career). So the money I make is not great, but often in life that which is most worth doing doesn't pay well.

As you know, I now work with groups of homeschoolers. But I know that many such students are in all types of educational circumstances all over our nation. Leftists behind the teacher's desk often squelch these young people, however.

Parents play a most important part in the education of their children! When the parents "care," the opportunities for learning are nearly unlimited--for both parents and children. Sadly, today many parents "opt out" and leave it to the schools to do everything. Huge mistake!

I am so blessed that the parents of my students are involved with every step along the way. Some teachers I know fear parent input. I never have, and when I was a principal, I tried to impart that idea to my teachers. Parents and teachers should not be intimidated by each other because when they are, the students' learning suffers.

BTW, soon I'll be posting another student's sonnet. I've figured out how to add an appropriate picture to augment the message of this particular sonnet. Military types will love both the poem and the picture.

this is a message for beak, read this all the way to the end for comment on your kingery visitor - don't know why but this guy is familiar:

i think he may be some extreme fundamentalist nut. not a regular fundamentalist nut like me. google him also - it seems he's trying to be everywhere at once.

sorry warren for using your forum this way.

He does sound familiar . Maybe Warren or Beamish can place him but it is not Samwich. Sammy can email me off line.

No doubt DM has a head on his shoulders, his writing speaks volumes. As for despair for our children, I dont have any yet, but have a niece that can only be described as a headstrong, wayward kid that has had her lifed ruined,[man it kills me to say this] by her Mom[my sister].
But the kid after years of mental abuse left her home at the age of 15 *sigh*...I saw it coming years ago. I love my sister but, I heard the way she spoke to her daughter and my heart sank. The girl has a great heart, is very good looking and can be nothing but prey to all the A-Holes out there.
Now she moves from boyfriend to boyfriend, has to go to a food bank...she said to me at the age of 13.."Uncle, can I move in with you"...
Life has already hardened her,If I was doing a little better, I would do more. But she was such a tough little kid, I think, I hope she makes out allright.

nanc, beak,
Its kind of a collage of a whole bunch of disaffected trolls and posters that have "graced" us with their presence. There are too many twists in the story to fit one particular person that I have ran across.

I won't get into why it isn't such and such. They might read it and take offense. I will say that it isn't the Duck. He considers himself a Roman Catholic and hasn't figured out that Catholicism and Marxism worship a different diety.

Elijah, check your Email.

We all have family members that are so screwed up that we cannot do anything for them. You ought to meet my Uncle Jailbird and his low-life kids!

I wonder if all this PC in the educational system is creating a new type of Conservative rebel. How does one percieve themselves hip and Chic if they parrot their professors lines.

Now that Drummaster has an Avatar all types of Beamish mayhem is possible.

so true warren. my next youngest sister, a prescription drug addict, took a deadly combo of downers and painkillers three years ago this april 5. she seemed fine to me the day before she died - we talked of the things of God and she told me she would go toward him when she "cleaned up" - i said, "don't wake up tomorrow and wonder where everybody went!" she laughed. that was how we ended all our calls. i fear she awaits judgment.

elijah - never give up on a loved one - go to the end even if it seems you're making no headway. it's on you if you don't. there is no soul unworthy of redemption.

tornados headed our way this afternoon - strange...

It is amazing that so many young people can resists this incredible avalanche of brainwashing and PC BS.
Sometimes we tend to despair because most of the "high" places have been hijacked by idiots, commie fellow travellers or downright enemies of the democracy.
It turns out however that despite all this assault on decency and common sense the silent majority remains as good as they can get.

nanc said...

missinglink - kids do have a hard time today, worse than i ever had. i know mine could not sanely make it through most days without knowing there is a Power higher than their parents (us) they answer to and we are so blessed they are trustworthy and recognize that.

just look at the variety of objects children have to be concerned about today. knowledge has definitely increased, but we're really no better off for it because we've lost the feel for a good old fashioned picnic and kiteflying to mention only a couple of things!

drummaster2001 said...

kiteflying and picnics are a thing of the past. that's why we have theme parks, kayaking, concerts, etc.

Well, excuse us old fogies while we go down to the crick to beat our laundry on a rock!

Warren, sorry never got that e-mail, if you have the time send again, i am curious to hear what you have to say about it. Probably got deleted with the all the porn and penis growth shite, because i didnt recognize the mailer.

missing link:

making stone tools with flint is pretty easy, just very time consuming. sanding a guitar neck is something i would spend that kind of time on, if my guitar needed it.

elijah:

thanks for the laugh, i really needed it now.

True though isnt it DM, nothing but pills, growth...porn etc..LOL

nanc said...

well, i've never gotten ANY e-mails from warren! unless you zenned them to me and my super-duper forcefield blocked them. oops, you were talking to elijah - nevermind...

Warren said...

Nanc, It could be that I don't have your email addy.

I'm trying to get everyone that wants an avatar set up with one.

Beamish, is getting you set up with one, isn't he?

nanc said...

imagine me weeping...no, i don't think beamish is setting me up with one and i'm not sure what would be a good avatar for me - you guys discuss it and present your avatar case to me! i am partial to no thing so will be hard to choose for and that is the reason i don't like gifts of any kind.
