what's beta?
You lose some control and more of the actual template is invisible or hidden. You can still modify your style sheet but the pseudo-code commands that manipulate your blogger variables don't seem to work in their html/java script gadget.
Beta was the in-between think after we all forced to "upgrade" to "new" bloger.
