"oh boo" moment #2007.90

for those of you er...um...fortunate - yeah, fortunate - enough to have two or more teens in the home at the same exact times, this is for you. for those of you who don't, you may wish to reconsider having children. and, for those of you with small children in your home, G-d be with you.

at the moment, i'm relishing the thought of peace and quiet for the next eight hours as a war was started at the bus stop this morning, and the remainder of the war will resume at 4:00 p.m.

our kids are really great - separately - and most of the time are one another's staunchest ally - heaven forbid another would pick on them. they are each other's worst enemy at others. this concept is lost on us at mine and nancpop's ages as we get along spectacularly and have tried to set harmonious examples. although we're not perfect and they have seen a few heated moments between us, not enough to warrant their behaviour towards each other on occasion. this morning was one of THOSE occasions.

while sitting at the bus stop this morning, making small talk, i said to evan, "i'm going to make you an appointment at the beauty shop to......." and nancson interrupted, "what are you doing, taking her in for an estimate?"

...oh boo...

fourteen is an awkward age for a girl - nothing is quite right in their world. bad hair, crooked (or so they think) teeth, weight (even though built like barbie should be), a blemish, friend problems, and the list goes on and on.

i know this little girl and she IS NOT going to let this drop...oh, no she won't and it WILL get ugly. jesse, of course, will forget all about it and be on to his next slam, but evan will be storing up all day.

oh, how i remember being a young girl with a brother...

And, yet, we know she will move past this little teasing and go on to bigger things. Nanc will surely have much tougher fish to fry with teenage daughter than this before the hormone explosion and peer pressure wears off...good luck! I'll be there in about ten years crying the blues.

I thinbk this post deserves two oh boo's.

Okay, three.

i honestly don't know how this published twice, farmer!

i'll be there for you, madze, but when your son asks your wife if her broom is still in the shop for an oil change, you're on your own, my friend...still thinking of ways to get back at nancson for that one...

ROTFLOL! Ain't that the truth!

Ooh, as a girl with four brothers, I remember those days...

Welcome to the club,....I think it has to do with sibling rivalry sometimes.

I'll never forget one time when my daughters were early teens,...they got into it I believe over whos' time it was to do a chore they were assigned to do.

We made them sit on the couch, with arms around each other for about 30 minutes,....man, they hated that, but then dad and mom became the hated enemy, and they made up to each other, LMAO!

I don't remember much quibbling after that day, and they did their chores better after that too. Ha.

nanc said...

we don't have a problem with chores so much as we do with each of their stand-up comedic routines they incessantly practice on one another! one or the other will get mad, because they can dish it but cannot take it.

females tend to hold a grudge longer than males and jesse will have forgotten about it and today or in a week, evan will prevail and then expect he remember what the retaliation was for.

it's very exciting here sometimes...

My son has a "bit" of his Dad's explosive temper, then it's gone, but my daughter can crockpot it for a few hours. The volcano will explode and everyone gets lavaed!
I tend to have to be really, really goaded to blow, and I usually keep my voice low...
Since my daughter broke up with her shallow and weak boyfriend, it's been calmer, except when they decide to mock fight to do a gotcha on me...

I've decided to forget everything that happened between ages 13-16. I even cut up some of the photos of me. Yuck!

EB,
and the kissing one just got her drivers license too

Uh oh!

I have two teenage boys in my home and will have the third arriving on his 13th birthday in September.

16 year old son and 14 year old son...DO NOT like to drop arguments. They must stroke them with every ounce that is within them.

BTW: New blog in works with kellypop http://tangleweb.blogspot.com/

nanc said...

my dream since having a son would have been to have ten or eight more in close succession. i envy your blessings of sons, kelly - but in a good way. i like the catchy name of your new blog and will visit for sure.

ours is 15 1/2 and he is still protective of me, will hug me in public and tell me he loves me, but THE evan-z-girl looks at me as though i'm an alien most of the time...

heaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy...you don't think..........

rob? i'm glad you enjoyed that one! he's like having a mini-beamish in the house.

i know how you feel, brooke. fortunately i was born at the age of seventy, began regressing and now i'm twenty - wooooooo-ooooooh!

elbro? kissing WHILE driving is a scary thought! time to ugly up her lips...

elmers brother said...

I could go to jail for that nanc...I'll put up with the totaled(sp?) vehicles

nanc said...

I have the same problem but with 2 girls. Believe me, they can be quite vicious to each other.

Kelly said...

Hey, Nanc, It took another try for us to get a girl...and she came along WITH yet another boy. They are now 10.

I will remember all this when the 10 yr old girl turns 13.

elmers brother said...

I prefer the robert de niro thing in meet the parents...I'll think I'll try it at the upcoming nuptials

nanc said...

you have the patience of a saint, kelly - nine kids in the house and you maintain some sort of sanity? i commend you.

which scene, elbro? we love that movie. the second one was horrid, however.

Eyes said...

I had an older sister... so, we never fought. NOT! HA! It's really great having siblings. I feel sorry for all the kids that were only 'one'.

elmers brother said...

I haven't seen the second one, but De Niro does it in a couple of places where he points his fingers at his eyes and then points them at Ben Stiller. It's worked on both the beaus in my daughters case.

HELP WARREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need your gun expertise. I'm torn between what to get for my next firearm. My first choice is a 9mm Springfield Armory XD 16 rd that comes with a night-sight and flashlight. My second is a taurus .38 special model 85 ultralight 5rd. I don't have a revolver yet but that Springfield was so juicy. Any advice since you know about guns much more than I?

nanc said...

elbro - it's reminiscent of the three stooges "whup-whup-whup" routine - it is used often here and with much laughter!

flo? warren's 'stremely busy right now, but personally, i'd get the nine as we have the taurus .357, which is comparable to the .38.

i mainly like the nine because of how many it holds in the clip and i've been a good shot with it in the past - but, warren is THE gun expert here so i'll not step on his toes with frivolous information - he'll tell you whatever you're comfortable with - could be a howitzer!

On teens:

Teenage boys are fine. They are easy to raise. You don't worry about them too much.

Teen girls are a hassle. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that all men check out methods to produce male offspring rather than females. The "beehatch" factor kicks in around 12 and from there on in, it's too late. Once the menstruation cycle begins, they become demons.

Gayle said...

"Teenage boys are 'fine'?" Hmmmm... I had two of them and never was there a peaceful moment! Two boys and a girl. The girl was the youngest and having two older brothers who constantly picked on her made her pretty tough. The oldest one kept at her so much that one day she laid back and coldcocked him! Sibling rivalry is horrible! Good luck Nanc, I'm glad mine finally grew up, and I'm glad that the grandchild I adopted is a girl. :)

nanc said...

oh, they love each other and pine away for one another when they are away from home; let someone else pick on them and the other goes ballistic.

my life did not come full circle though until i had a son.
