Our friend, Drumaster, of Nicotine & Rock has created a new blog, High Voltage.
Where his first blog is mainly about music with some interesting side trips into electronic media and UFOs. This blog will deal with current events. (I'm the guilty party on the UFOs) ;^)
In his first post he asks us our opinion about sex offenders working among the unaware public.

thanks for the publicity. about UFO's, i have a stange fascination about aliens and other intelligent life out there. btw, you have got to help me out with hyperlinking in comments and posts. i tried doing it to post the link about that sex offender in my comment, but the right click wouldn't work.

I'm going to replace the html command carets, ("less-than" "greater-than" braces), with brackets ( [ ] ). The comments section on blogger only allows certain html commands so I cannot use the command [code] to allow you to see the actual command.
The easiest way to do it is to use the "Edit HTML"
tab in your post composer instead of the "Compose" tab. There are buttons at the top of the edit HTML window that allow you to simply plug in the URL of which ever site you are linking.
If you are posting via Email or FTP client, you need to remember the exact text of the command or make a document to list the commands for reference.
In either case, the simplest command for a link is,
[a href="http://www.fruitcakecity"]cake[/a]
with " fruitcakecity " being the URL name and " cake ", being the target word linked, in your post.
It would look like this in your blog or comments section with the carets replacing the brackets.

I recommend cutting and pasting in the URLs and complicated HTML commands. That helps you keep from making mistakes.
As I said at the beginning, the comments section of blogger only allows certain HTML tags so you are limited to what you can do with HTML in a comment. Although that can be a pain if you know HTML, it really is beneficial to the owner of a blog. It keeps people from posting pictures which can disrupt a blog comments section and other mischief. It also lessens the chance of a script kiddie hacking your blog.
I use the HTML editor to compose my comments then paste them in because it saves me time and I really, really need a spell checker.
There are also many neat HTML commands that you can use in your posts, like the [strike] command that puts a line through your words. Its an excellent way to make sarcastic comentary.

Remember that any HTML command needs to be closed in order for it to work right.
The closing command looks like the command with the forward slash in front of it.
Your link command begins with [a] and closes with [/a], (remember the < > replaces the [ ]) if I put anything between them you wouldn't be able to see them.

beak, i've been meaning to do a current events blog for a little while, but there was nothing really going on until early july. the new blog came about when i saw the article which i used for the first one. it also took a little while for me to pick a name, finally it came to me to just browse my CD titles and low and behold, AC/DC's "High Voltage" slapped me in the face, although the URL name was a pain to come up with. i must have tried 4 of them before i was able to pick one that wasn't used.
