Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. ~ George Washington -
"A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves." --French philosopher Bertrand de Jouvenel--
"Or in our case hyenas." --Warren / Longrange1--
okay - these two masked and armed men walk into a megachurch (50,000+- members in attendance) in dallas and start running up and down the aisles waving and firing their semi-automatic weapons; one of them shouts out, "ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO AREN'T WILLING TO TAKE A BULLET FOR JESUS, LEAVE THE BUILDING!"
about 30,000 of them get up and are arseholes and elbows out the building.
again, they repeat their spiel, "ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO AREN'T WILLING TO TAKE A BULLET FOR THE LORD, GET OUT OF HERE NOW!"
this time, 15,000 or so get up and flee from the church building.
one more time, the run like wildmen screaming out while firing their guns into the air, "THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO LEAVE IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO TAKE A BULLET FOR THE LORD!"
ALL but about 20 people take their leave.
the two gunmen remove their masks, sit down, look at the pastor at the pulpit and one of them says, "okay preacher, all the hypocrites are gone - you can start your sermon."
Heheheheheheh! Start posting on his site, and he shows up to let us know he's alive! Hey, WARREN, go check how I have relabled you and the "others" on my site...ROTFLOL! Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!
Well Guerny, paradise on my right. Hell on my left, and the Angel of Death behind.
And as the Sisters say, "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
One thing we know for sure, our fates are seldom in our own hands.
I'm trying to get back in the swing but I seem to be especially in demand among my employers. I've worked well over 60 hours a week the last two weeks plus several small emergencies that take up my time. I have to work tomorrow and Sunday but they should be 8 hour or less days.
TMW, I appreciate that you posted here, you are always welcome to post here and I have always intended for my sisters to post here anytime they wish.
:^)
Nanc, I would say that its good to be back but I'm still limited in time.
I've been thinking about what happened at Virginia Tech. What floors me is that those students, for the most part, didn't try to resist. Sure, they were in some kind of a state of shock. And a few of them did resist or flee.
I realize the their situation was different from those aboard Flight 93. Still....
I'd rather die resisting or making plans to resist.
I'm not just talking out my hat here. Years ago, in a movie theater where I was watching The Greatest Athlete, an armed robber burst through the doors of the auditorium. First, I got down only the floor. I began stuffing my jewelry into my undies. When I came up from my crouched position, I had my purse ready to swing as a club and, at the same time, uttered a fearsome guttural cry. Obviously, I'm still here to tell the tale. The robber fled.
When I was the assist manager of a small import store, I confronted a robber in the backroom trying to pry open a locked file cabinet. I didn't know it at the time, but he had grabbed a VERY LONG screwdriver to pry with and had it down at his side when I surprised him. I just stood there and queastioned him, staring him down, he fled, I called the police. Rat had gone through my wallet, but lucky for him there was nothing to take! I nearly wet my pants when I saw the screwdriver after he dropped it! Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!
dang! warren's good - how'd he know that was me being a nonny mouse...?!?
aow - i would have tried to take him down up to my last breath - of course, i've had some self-defense training. of course, we were always taught to try to diffuse a situation first - this would not have worked with cho. the attention he so badly needed was avoided until it was too late.
everything's so much clearer in retrospect. a shame we cannot live there.
LOL! I loved the cartoon and that's a great joke, Nanc! Thanks for the laugh.
Regarding defending oneself... it's supposed to be a natural instinct. I think society teaching children that it's always wrong to fight, that there's never any excuse for physical violence, is brainwashing our kids into not standing up for themselves even in matters of life or death. This could really turn out to be devastating considering the fact that Jihadists brainwash their children to fight to the death. I think we'd better turn things around fast!

Hi warren! Good to see you up and about. I thought for a while you had succumbed to the wiles of the >Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
But since you haven't, I trust Paul and Alia are safe, and I can go back to sleep.

True story. Not a Beamish story. Hehehe.

I'm more an escape and evade kinda guy unless I see a gratuitous use of force. I suspect most of the students were pursuing this natural instinct...
I thought I had you pegged right, FJ. Last time I looked you were running away from a little me-girl. Coward!

Like Georgie Porgie. LOL!
Great cartoon, and LOL at Nanc's joke!
Kawania che Keekeru!
Happy St. Tammany's Day, warren!
Hah, too true.
farmer john: I'd bet on Warren falling for the wiles of the Honored Matres instead, but beware, he may be a Face Dancer ;-)
Then he's a pretty good one if he can fool the Honoured Matres.
I think we could all do with a Squantum feast.
No R in May, grab a quahog and get the steam pit going!
Dune was the most complicated series of novels I've ever read.
GOOD! there you is!
