I think she really has secretly gone to India to study pacifism and wear loin cloths.

The personality test she took got to her head.

hey fern - i took it and also came out as a gandhi...and i'm as far from pacifistic as the north is from the south pole!

and i refuse to go to a place where all that beef goes to waste!

AOW is on vacation. She hasn't transmogrified into Ghandi.

nanc said...

we won't know until her return...

I think Nanc would make a wonderful Gandhi.

Lets chip in and get her a "Good Karma Magnet" T-Shirt.

I miss AOW too, but I am hoping that she and hubby are having a good time, no sunburns and definitely NO JELLYFISH!

When bloggers disappear, reality becomes Yoko Ono.

Nanc,
I am afraid AOW let us all down enormously.
Therefore, I propose to set a collective body controlling her movements.
See my latest comment under her "To the Beach" post.

Anyway - Samothing has to be done about this girl as she gets far too much free time and neglects her duties.

say it ain't so, beamish - say it ain't so!

linkster - you should be the marshall in charge and the rest of us can be your lowly deputies! just don't be bossier than i.

Hi, All! We came home a day early, so I'm back now. Lots of catching up to do--and back to work on Monday. **sigh**

No sunburns (rain for 2 days!) and no jellyfish, though my husband did manage to stand on an anthill of RED ants and to two hotfeet. But the rainy days weren't an entire loss because we found the two outlet malls. The Mustang was packed overfull for the ride home.

Myrtle Beach is lovely, especially after the crowds leave right after Labor Day.

Me as Yoko Ono and/or any kind of pacifist? Bwahahahaha!

TMW,
You have an avatar!

Farmer,
The John-Abigail correspondence is quite a tome! At least you THOUGHT about reading it. Thinking counts!

Missing Link,
No wireless service at my cousin's house, where we stayed. Sorry 'bout that!

Nanc,
Thanks for the I-miss-Always-On-Watch party!

No no no... reality takes bloggers away from their blogs like Yoko Ono took John Lennon away from the Beatles, or something.

I should use more paprika in my mixed metaphors.

i imagine the party will really get rolling now that people know you're back!

The new school term will begin so we will have fresh new student readers. I may resume moderation to eliminate Uptown who is a bore.

nanc said...

beak - does that mean we all need to clean it up some?

No Uptown is a unique story. Amazingly, over the years he has still not fiured out I am a social liberal. He follows me with a racial bag of garbage and stupidity.

He knows many of the points but will repeat them again. He is just stupid and lowers the content bar with his mere presence.

I missed AOW too but I am glad she had a vacation. I came out as Ghandi too...sounds like a lib cabal wrote that or Dan Rather got his wires crossed again. Did somebody get a fax of that poll?

EB,
Thanks! We had a great time, but I'd have liked a few more days of sun.

Hey, anybody here know about croaking frogs which sound more like New Year's Eve horns than like "ribbit"? Our house was across from a marsh, and I've never heard such a weird noise come from frogs. At least, we think they were frogs.

After a rain, regular frogs sang more toward dawn. The horn-tooting frogs sang from dusk until around 3:00 A.M.

aow - we have these at our cabin and they have a vibrating trill song - you can find a bio of different kinds of frogs here:

http://www.kiddyhouse.com/Themes/frogs/frogs.html

the ones we have will bloat their throats up to nearly half their size!

Always On Watch said...

Green tree frog, I think. Sound here, or a very similar sound anyway.

The Merry Widow said...

We used to have green tree frogs all over the place, until some idiots let their ginkos loose! Not only do they compete, but the nativeanoles and tree frogs have been eaten, if you see an anole you're really lucky. tree frogs and anoles really help keep the misquitos and flies down. But I do like the tree frogs!
Good morning,G*D bless and Maranatha!

I'd never before heard frogs such as the ones at Myrtle Beach. We don't have that particular type here--too far north, I guess.

Every year, we have spring peepers here in part of Northern Virginia--not too close to my house, but on my evening work-route. The sound of those peepers takes me back to where I grew up, near a lowland which was wet every spring. I used to fall asleep at night listening to their sounds--so soothing. Sometimes in the spring now, I stop my car just to listen to those peepers.

Ah-ha! We all missed her! So you went to the Beach AOW? Must be nice. One last holiday before the fall. Glad your back.

Nanc: The earthquake that hit the gulf today wasn't felt up this way in GA. Hopefully it doesn't mess up our little petrol discovery there.

It's so gratifying to know that I was missed.

Back to work this afternoon (piano lessons to give) and tomorrow (homeschool classes).
