From bullyonline.org
The Internet provides the perfect forum for cyberbullies, individuals whose aim is to gain gratification from the distress caused by provoking and tormenting others. The anonymity, ease of provocation, and almost infinite source of targets means the Internet is full of predators from pedophiles targeting children to serial bullies targeting ... anybody.
Many serial bullies are also serial attention-seekers. More than anything else they want attention. It doesn't matter what type of attention they get, positive or negative, as long as they can provoke someone into paying them attention. It's like a 2-year-old child throwing a tantrum to get attention from a parent. The best way to treat bullies is to refuse to respond and to refuse to engage them - which they really hate. In other words, do not reply to their postings, and on forums carry on posting without reference to their postings as if they didn't exist. In other words, treat nobodies as nobodies.
The objectives of bullies are Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more your try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them. Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded.
The anger of a serial bully is especially apparent when they come across someone who can see through them to the weak, inadequate, immature, dysfunctional aggressive individual behind the mask.
The first rule for dealing with this type of behavior is: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage. This is not as easy to do as it sounds. It's a natural response to want to defend yourself, and to put the person right. However, never argue with a serial bully; it's not a mature adult discussion, but like dealing with a child or immature teenager; whilst the serial bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like a child who's never grown up - and probably never will. Serial bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns and do not share the same thoughts or values as you.
Second, keep all abusive emails. Create a new folder, perhaps called "Abuse", and move hate mail and flame mail into this folder. You don't have to read it. When the time comes to take action, this folder of hate mail and flame mail is your evidence. Bullies, especially cyberbullies, are obsessive people and if their account is closed down you may start receiving mail from another address. This can later be compared to the abusive emails you've already received to identify the perpetrator. You'll find the same words, phrases and strategies occurring. If you receive abusive emails or flame mails or hate mail, you can forward it to abuse@isp where "isp" is the service provider the abuser is using, eg "aol.com" or "yahoo.com". Although Internet service providers may not act on every complaint, the more complaints they receive about a particular individual (with examples of abusive email) the more likely they are to close down the person's account.
Third, become alert to provocation. It could be called "The Baiting Game". A provocative comment is made and those who respond spontaneously in irritation are then targeted for further "attention".
Fourth, become an observer. Although you may be the target of the cyberbully's anger, you can train yourself to act as an observer. This takes you out of the firing line and enables you to study the perpetrator and collect evidence. When people use bullying behaviors they project their own weaknesses, failings and shortcomings on to others. In other words, they are telling you about themselves by fabricating an accusation based on something they themselves have done wrong. Whenever you receive a flame mail or hate mail, train yourself to instinctively ask the question, "What is this person revealing about themselves this time?"
Fifth, decide if you want to take action, and if so, prepare carefully and strike hard. Sometimes refusing to respond and engage will result in the cyberbully losing interest and going off to find someone easier to torment. Sometimes though, especially if there has been interaction in the past, the cyberbully is so obsessed that s/he cannot and will not let go. You will have to make that person let go, but only through swift, hard, legal action, and only when the time is right. Don't deal with the abuser yourself (this encourages bullies and stalkers), use a third party such as a Lawyer.
Internet stalker profile:
lives in a 1-room apartment which hasn't been cleaned for months - if ever
has stacks of pornographic magazines in his bedroom area
has poor personal hygiene
has poor table manners
has poor social etiquette
hasn't changed the sheets on his bed for months, which are now best described as crusty
has a bathroom, the state of which doesn't bear thinking about
lives on pizza and beer/coke, the remnants of which litter his apartment
may have an unusual pet (eg ferret) which has free run of the apartment
is either significantly over- or under-weight
has a small moustache or other facial hair
has not held down any job for more than a couple of years, probably less
has no friends
has no life outside the Internet
The Internet stalker probably has other unpleasant characteristics that sexual harassers possess, and the usual sexual inadequacy including lack of intimacy, controlling behavior, no concept of the partner's needs, premature ejaculation, and an abnormal belief bordering on obsession in his smallness.

what do these creatures have in common?
they're all just babies in their wombs, right? beware - it gets graphic.

more importantly, i should have asked, "which is expendable?" or, "which could we do without?" better yet, "who, on the left, would shed a tear if the one in the middle became extinct?"
national pornographic is doing a special on animal babies "from conception to birth" in the next week - i just have to wonder what their stance on abortion is?
where are these people:

when this happens?:

when i read that it doesn't matter whether or not a political candidate is pro-life or pro-abortion - i makes me want to vomit.

I have much to be thankful for!

Its 9 PM, I just finished preparing the turkey that I'll put on about 3 AM.
I've had a long-short week. I was supposed to work 3 - 10 1/2 hour days and be off tomorrow and Friday. Unfortunately I'll have to work 3 or 4 hours Friday and a full day Saturday.
Some of you, my friends, have sent me Email that I haven't had a chance to answer. I'm sorry, I'm going to get after that.
If you have replied to me in a post, again, I'm sorry for not answering you, I just haven't had the time.
I am thankful to have the opportunity to work. I am thankful for my family and the joy they have brought me, I thank my Creator who knew me in my mothers womb and who has carried me when I was too weak to move forward and for bringing us together.
I am thankful for you that pray for me and come to visit me.
May the peace of God be with you all.

"oh boo" moment #1,462.33
i had to share while this is fresh in my mind instead of here awhile back. my apologies to those of you this would offend, but if you watch network t.v. - i'm sure you've seen and heard worse.
last night, nancpop was on the phone with his "pa" in californistan. apparently "pa" had been having an illness he was being treated for with "nexium" (the little purple pill), and amoxycillin. now, we don't know exactly why these two things were prescribed, but after about a week, "pa" became lethargic and ill.
you'd think the pharmicist would have warned "pa" about the contraindications regarding taking these two together - THEY SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN TOGETHER!
anyway, to make a short story longer, "pa" told nancpop that once he found out about the ill side effects, he quit taking them and has never felt better. praise G-d!
they got started talking about various pharmaceuticals and the one that got them going was one of the male sexual enhancement products (cialis or viagra). "pa" said he thought about the one that says, "if you have an erection lasting over FOUR hours, call your physician IMMEDIATELY!" "pa" said, "son, if i EVER have an erection lasting over four hours, i'm callin' the doctor; i'm callin' all my old girlfriends; i'm callin' anyone who'll listen!" i guess "ma" was in the background eyes rolling. apparently, "pa" had just had his cabernet meds.
nancpop responded to his father, "pa, if i have one lasting over four minutes, i'm doing the same thing!" they spent the rest of their conversation - approximately a half hour - ltao! men...always bragging...

illegal immigration or cheap tomatoes
definition of immigration: To enter and settle in a country or region to which one is not native.
excuse me, but this country was entered and settled here a few years back, thank you.
courtesy and hat tip to zinla:
"From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower social economic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc.where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
One hundred percent of the students in this school and other Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones.
The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center; half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them Putas (whores) and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
I support president Bush, but on this issue, he and everyone else voting things this way is a certain way to disaster.
To my bleeding-heart liberal friends who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to spend less for tomatoes spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.
Higher insurance, Medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.
We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.
Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?
There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about " politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it."
"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under". ~Ronald Reagan"
thank you socialist freaks.
all emphasis mine throughout.

Murtha Calls Ethics Bill "Total Crap"

Wednesday, Nov. 15; 1:18 pm
Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) told a group of Democratic moderates on Tuesday that an ethics and lobbying reform bill being pushed by party leaders was "total crap," but said that he would work to enact the legislation because Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) supports it.
But we already knew that!

Nancy Pelosi's Sour Grapes

A note first, Nostradumbass, "Ducky", has once again shown that he doesn't know beans. San Fran Nan, is catching flack from her "fellow travelers", about her backing John Murtha, (with his ethics problems), For the #2 position in the House.
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY
Posted 10/31/2006
Leaders: Rep. Nancy Pelosi has her own "grapes of wrath" scenario going on. Is her opposition to enhanced border security due to the fact that the House Democratic leader personally profits from a steady supply of cheap foreign labor?
If Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives, the San Francisco Democrat will not only be the first female speaker, but also the richest. The liberal Center for Responsive Politics puts her net worth as high as $55 million.
There is no record of Pelosi's ever returning her portion of those "tax cuts for the rich" to the U.S. Treasury. Or any record, for that matter, of using her (dare we use the word?) windfall to give the workers at her Napa Valley vineyards a raise.
As Peter Schweizer notes in his best-selling expose of liberal hypocrisy, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do)," part of the fortune of this defender of the working man is a Napa Valley vineyard worth $25 million that she owns with her husband. The vineyard produces expensive grapes for high-end wines. Napa grapes bring up to $4,000 a ton compared with $300 a ton for, say, San Joaquin grapes.
But Pelosi, winner of the 2003 Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers, hires only nonunion workers and sells these grapes to nonunion wineries. Schweizer places Pelosi in a chapter titled "Workers of the World Unite Somewhere Else." UFW members need not apply at the Pelosi family vineyards.
Which makes Pelosi's steadfast opposition to any attempts to enhance border security and stem the flow of illegal immigration into the U.S. all the more interesting since she seems to be among those rich employers who financially benefit from a steady supply of cheap foreign labor.
She led the opposition and voted against the Secure Fence Act of 2006 recently signed into law by President Bush to build a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexican border.
She opposed the Real ID Act of 2005, a valuable anti-terror tool, while bragging that Democrats under her leadership "defeated Republican attempts to restrict the easily forged Matricula Consular card" issued by the Mexican government.
She voted against a bill to make employers such as herself financially liable for hospital costs if undocumented employees seek medical attention, preferring that either taxpayers foot the bill or that hospitals close under the burden, as many are doing throughout the Southwest.
In 2005 she voted against barring the issuance of driver's licenses to illegal aliens and against a requirement that businesses use an electronic system to verify whether new hires have the legal right to work in the U.S.
Nor has Pelosi been a fan of employer sanctions against the hiring of illegal aliens. In 2003, she accused immigration officers of conducting "terrorizing raids" on Wal-Mart stores that led to the arrest of more than 300 illegal aliens.
Loraine Stewart, a farmworker advocate with Napa Valley Community Housing, in a 2004 San Francisco Chronicle article estimated that half of the migrant labor force in the valley consisted of undocumented workers, without whom "not one bottle of wine would get made here."
The people coming across our southern border aren't just seeking better lives. They're joined by drug smugglers and an assortment of people with criminal records. There are also what Immigration and Customs Enforcement calls OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) among whom potential terrorists could sneak in undetected.
Pelosi apparently puts her financial interests above the security of this nation and the safety of its citizens, exploiting undocumented workers in the process. If the people at Immigration and Customs are looking for an employer to check out, we know this little vineyard in the Napa Valley.
You might want to check out this too: (Nancy Pelosi: One of Mikhail Gorbachev's most useful idiots)
Don't get me wrong, I want Pelosi to appoint the Murthas, Alcee Hastings, Charlie Wrangles and John Conyers of the Democrat party to leadership positions.
I want to see the in-fighting and recriminations as the Frankenstein Party struggles to keep its dead pieces acting as if it were a viable whole.

More on Murtha
From, .beyonddelay.org a Liberal leaning watchdog group.
REP. JOHN MURTHA
Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) is a 17th-term member of Congress, representing Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district. Rep. Murtha’s ethics violations stem from abuse of his position as Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee to benefit the lobbying firm of a former long-term staffer and clients of his brother, Robert “Kit” Murtha, a registered lobbyist.
PMA Group
Paul Magliocchetti worked with Rep. Murtha as a senior staffer on the Defense appropriations subcommittee for 10 years.1 After leaving the committee, Mr. Magliocchetti founded the PMA Group, which has become one of the prominent Washington, D.C. defense lobbying firms. In the current campaign cycle, the PMA Group and 11 of the firm’s clients rank in the top 20 contributors to Rep. Murtha, having made campaign contributions totaling $274,649.2 In the 2004 and 2002 cycles, PMA and nine of the firm’s clients ranked in the top 20 contributors having made $236,7993 in contributions and $279,074, respectively.4
In turn, many of PMA’s clients have benefited significantly from Rep. Murtha’s earmarks. In the 2006 Defense appropriations bill, PMA clients received at least 60 earmarks at a total of $95.1 million.5
Robert “Kit” Murtha
KSA Consulting is a lobbying firm hired by defense contractors in the hopes of securing funding from the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.6
The firm was retained by most of its clients after Rep. Murtha’s brother, Kit Murtha, joined the firm in 2002.7
Mr. Murtha joined the firm at the invitation of top KSA official Carmen Scialabba, who had worked for Rep. Murtha on the House Appropriations Committee for 27 years.8
Mr. Murtha’s first client at KSA was AEPTEC Miscrosystems, Inc., a wireless networking company based in Maryland that was seeking a grant from the State of Pennsylvania to fund construction of a new business complex in Rep. Murtha’s district.9
Notably, AEPTEC donated more than $12,000 to Rep. Murtha’s reelection campaign in 2002.10
Mr. Murtha successfully lobbied the state for a $1.5 million grant to build the complex.11
Although Mr. Murtha has claimed that his brother played no role in helping secure that funding, in an April 2004 press release, Rep. Murtha claimed credit for “introducing AEPTEC to the opportunities” in Pennsylvania and several of the Congressman’s staff attended groundbreaking
ceremonies for construction of the complex.12
Two months later, as part of a defense appropriations bill, Rep. Murtha’s subcommittee
approved a $4.2 million appropriation for an AEPTEC wireless network that supported the Aegis cruiser program. KSA founder, chief executive and lead lobbyist Ken Stalder lobbied Rep. Murtha to obtain the earmark.13
In 2004, Congress passed a $417 billion defense appropriations bill that went through Rep. Murtha’s subcommittee.14
The bill benefited at least 10 companies represented by KSA and KSA lobbied Rep. Murtha’s office directly on behalf of seven of those companies, which received a total $20.8 million in earmarks.15
For example, Arkansas based Cal-Zark won $1.7 million -- more than tripling the firm’s 2004 sales -- after KSA’s founder and head lobbyist, Ken Stalder, joined Cal-Zark officials on a trip to lobby Rep. Murtha’s office.16
KDH Defense Systems was awarded $2.6 million and soon thereafter, opened a body armor plant and moved its headquarters into Rep. Murtha’s district.17
Mobilvox Inc, which received $1.7 million,18
held a press conference with Rep. Murtha to announce the opening of a new Pennsylvania office shortly before the bill passed.19
Mr. Murtha and one of his staff, Jack Frank, attended Mobilvox’s new office open house in 2005.20
Other KSA clients that received earmarks include Applied Ordnance Technnology Inc., which received $3.4 million; ChemImage Corp., which received $3.5 million;21
and Mountaintop Technologies Inc., which received $1 million.22
5 U.S.C. §7353 and House Rules
A provision of the Ethics Reform Act of 1989, 5 U.S.C. §7353, prohibits members of the House, officers, and employees from asking for anything of value from a broad range of people,
including “anyone who seeks official action from the House, does business with the House, or has interests which may be substantially affected by the performance of official duties.

REP. JOHN MURTHA

Murtha and the FBI: The Director's Cut

From, The American Spectator:
Video as well as a transcript of FBI sting operation involving Congressman Jack Murtha in the Abscam investigation are linked to the American Spectator article.
In recent years, only a 13-second video of Murtha's videotaped meeting with the FBI agents was publicly available. TAS has obtained a copy of the full, original video from a source close to the Abscam investigation on the condition of anonymity. The court transcript is publicly available at the National Archives.[...]
[...]On the video, Murtha does not appear to be a man uninterested in money. He appears to be uninterested at that point. Interpretation of the nuances of this conversation may be subjective, but Murtha appears essentially to say, You don't need Thompson and Murphy. I'm the guy who makes it happen.

the pleasure of mississippi
you heard me correctly.
nancpop had the great pleasure of working in mississippi a few years ago on a power plant. he was warned by outsiders to stay away from the black parts of town - and if there's one thing you do not do it's warn nancpop!
he decided to rent from a fine woman of color in an all black neighborhood with a black club directly across the street (pool, billiards and BEER!) - the rental also came with fishing privileges in the two on-site ponds so all was well in his world.
we had occasion to go visit him a couple of times and the landlady and her husband were a couple of the most genuinely great people we have encountered as a family. she took our children to the local swimming pool where they were the least tanned kids in the water!
now, to my rant:
charlie rangel, the dhimmi congressworm from nyc, had this to say about mississippi in the sun/herald yesterday:
" JACKSON, Miss. - A Democratic congressman from New York says he wasn't trying to insult Mississippi in published remarks Thursday, but a Republican colleague from Mississippi says Rep. Charles Rangel should apologize to the state.
Rangel, D-N.Y., was quoted in a Thursday article in The New York Times, saying: "Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?"
Rep. Chip Pickering, R-Miss., issued a news release criticizing Rangel's words.
"I hope his remarks are not the kind of insults, slander, and defamation that Mississippians will come to expect from the Democrat leadership in Washington, D.C.," Pickering said.
Elbert Garcia, Rangel's press secretary in New York, said Rangel had received calls Thursday about the Mississippi quote.
Garcia e-mailed The Associated Press a response from Rangel: "I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, I just love New York so much that I can't understand why everyone wouldn't want to live here."
In midterm elections this week, Democrats captured control of the U.S. House and Senate for the first time in a dozen years.
Rangel is the ranking Democrat on Ways and Means, and is in line to become chairman of the powerful tax-writing committee. The New York Times article was about how the New York congressional delegation gained political clout in the midterm elections. Rangel said, among other things, that he wants to direct more federal money to his state.
U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Miss., said he believes Mississippi will be treated fairly by Rangel and other Democratic leaders. As for Pickering's question of whether Democrats could hurt the state, Taylor said: "That's Chip."
Pickering was elected to the House in 1996 and for the first time will be a member of the minority party in Congress.
Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the nation and gets back more from the federal government than it pays for many programs. For example, Mississippi has one of the highest federal matching rates for Medicaid, getting back nearly $3 in federal money for every $1 of state money in the program that helps pay for health care for the needy, aged, blind and disabled, and for low-income families with children.
Mississippi also has received billions of dollars in federal relief since Hurricane Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005, destroying tens of thousands of homes and businesses and causing damage more than 150 miles inland.
Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., has been chairman of the Appropriations Committee, but will lose that position as Democrats take over the Senate majority.
Taylor, whose Bay St. Louis home was washed away by Katrina, said Rangel "was particularly helpful in the post-Katrina time" in securing money for Mississippi's recovery.
Taylor laughed as he responded to Rangel's comments about Mississippi. Taylor was stationed in New York when he was a young man in the Coast Guard. He said some New Yorkers "are stuck up about their home."
"You can tell him I want to live in Mississippi and wild elephants and tigers and bears couldn't keep me from living in Mississippi," Taylor said. "Hurricane Katrina couldn't keep me from building back here.""
in case mr. rangel didn't know, mississippi is one of the poorest states, but the MOST giving as far as being charitable - here's a list from 2003 for you charlie (and plucky too if you're looking)(previous year's ranking in parentheses after state):

Some Cognizant Thoughts
From Bill Wittle
We have to accept the fact that the conservatives we sent to Congress in 1994 became the bloated, earmarking, tone-deaf toads of 2006. They thought they could do whatever they wanted, regardless of what their constituents think, and now they have been reminded of just who is working for whom. Remedying that sense of isolation and disconnect and unchecked power is why we have elections in the first place, and as to the consequences of it, we have no one to blame but ourselves. That imperial attitude is not unique to Republicans or Democrats. That is human nature, and correcting the excesses of human nature only becomes more costly and painful the longer it is allowed to go on. Democracy is error-correcting. Ask John Kerry.

Handguns, which one is right for me?
People often ask me, which handgun or caliber of handgun is the best.
I'm afraid that there is no easy answer to that question. It depends on what you are going to use the handgun for, your physical makeup and your own personal preferences.
There are two types of handguns, revolvers and pistols. Revolvers have a revolving firing chamber; pistols have a firing chamber that is part of the barrel. Semi-automatic or auto-loading pistols fall into this second category as do single shot pistols.
Advantages and disadvantages:
Revolvers:

Advantages:
Simplicity of design.
Easily to load.
Ammunition generally cheaper than semi-auto ammo with lower power loadings for practice.
Generally, physically stronger design that will take more abuse without damage.
In the event of a misfire, trigger may be pulled to fire the next round.
Disadvantages:
Takes longer to load.
Holds less ammo than newer semi-autos.
Generally harder to conceal than semi-autos.
Pistols - semi-automatics:

Advantages:
Slimmer design for easier concealability.
Modern semi-autos have up to three times the load capacity of a revolver.
Can be loaded very quickly.
Disadvantages:
Complicated design can lead to loading malfunctions.
Requires more training than revolver.
In the even of misfire, bullet must be cleared from gun before the next round can be fired.
**********************
Caliber:
Caliber is the designation of a bullets size but may have little to do with its actual size and is little more than a name designation.
For instance, 9mm, .380, .357 magnum and .38 special; all use the same diameter bullet and often bullets of the same type and weight but the bullet cases are all different in length and configuration. The diameters for all those calibers are .355 to .356 inches. The .357 magnum and .44 magnum are actually just slightly longer versions of the .38 special and .44 special.
Any handgun in any caliber is better than no handgun at all providing you know how to use it.
**********************
Accuracy:
It has always been my experience that any given firearm is capable of far more accuracy than the person shooting it.
More than 80% of all defensive firearm use happens within less than 10 feet of the target. When you first start your training and practice, concentrate your practice at this distance.
The secret of accuracy is trigger control And trigger control is achieved by firing or dry-firing. The best results are achieved by dry-firing a double action* revolver. Newer semi-auto pistols that allow double action fire may also be used.
Dry-firing will damage a gun unless it is loaded with dummy rounds called Snap Caps.
The advantage of dry-firing is that you don't burn up a lot of expensive ammo and you don't have to be at the range to practice. I used to practice dry-firing setting in my recliner taking aim at the clock on the wall.
To dry-fire, load your weapon with snap caps, (it only takes one for a pistol capable of "double action" fire for revolvers you must have one for every cylinder hole), take aim at your target and slowly pull your trigger while concentrating keep your weapon on target. If you have never did this before you will be surprised at how much you gun moves around while you pull the trigger.
Even avid shooter are surprised by their increase in accuracy after learning trigger control by dry-firing.
**********************
Conclusion:
The "best" is what's best for you, what fits your hand comfortably. I prefer the .45 ACP in either the larger or smaller frame models.
For personal protection, I recommend a medium caliber medium power weapon with experienced people using the magnum calibers if personally preferred. I recommend provenly functional hollow point ammunition for 9mm pistols. (Not all semi-auto pistols will function with hollow points and some cheap hollow points won't function in any weapon at all).
Double action, means that pulling the trigger "cocks" and "fires" the weapon as opposed to "single action", where pulling the triggers, "only fires the gun", and cocking is achieved by some other means.

T.O.W.S. and the men who love them - a post for women ONLY!
perhaps i was in a mood today.
while i was happily stoking the fire in the woodstove today, probably yapping it up about some world event - i turned around suddenly to see my dear, sweet husband pointing the remote, which btw he has no idea how to use, directly at me.
"why are you pointing that remote control at me?" to which he politely responded, "i was just trying to turn you on." hmmmmmm...i didn't know they made arcees or batteries that powerful! i let it go, because this is the man G-d put on my plate and i didn't want to have the entawr meal at once.
to make matters stranger, a couple of hours later our daughter was in a snit (yes, elbro - a snit) over what to wear to a birthday party this afternoon and whether her brother should go or not.
the 15 year old brother says, "what is it with you women?"
the father says, "son, what have i told you?"
"pop (only it sounded more like PAAAAAA-OPPPPPPPPP) - women all have tows." pop inquired, "what's tows, son?" son replies loudly, "TICKED OFF WOMEN SYNDROME!"
anyway, that started my gears turning...T.O.W.S. it's got to mean more than that - this is where i turn it over to my female colleagues.
and btw, this post is made prior to warren's gun post so we would have something to make a fuss over. what does T.O.W.S mean to you?

Disappointment
There seems to be a major flaw in our capitalistic marketplace.
The anti-capitalism crowd should have starved and died in the gutter. Not only do they not starve, the bounty of our harvest allows them to grow fat and abuse us with their mouths full.
This is a serious flaw and should be addressed.
Suggestions?

did we actually lose an hour of daylight? if so, where did it go? does this sort of thing bother anybody else?
gotta go tell my peppers to stop putting off fruit...they're not going to like this.

"oh boo" moment #62 3/4
here awhile back, my husband was at a meeting with the big money guys on a couple of big jobs they have going.
one of the big money guys takes his goofy dog everywhere he goes - guess you can do that when you have all the money.
to make a short story long - they're sitting roundtable style and the biggest money guy puts his hand down beside his chair and starts stroking what he believes to be his mutt - lo and behold, it was the wide-eyed, unsuspecting guy's knee next to him!
when he realized what he was doing he hollered, "OH SH*T! i thought that was my dog!"
needless to say, everybody in the room went into full uproar and when everything calmed down, my husband's top supervisor (a big-big (6'4"), rugged yet distinguished guy) says to the big money man, "can i sit by you?"
oh boo...
addendum:
this big rugged supervisor also loves to cook cajun style - he and my husband share recipes online - last week he sent home some "shrimp etouffee" for our family...
oh boo...
here is the type of recipe my husband creates:
Dumb Ass (excuse my language)
Take 1 operater
Add 1 company truck
Add in options for wich type of equipment operater wants to play on
Throw in a few extra tools that are necessary for operater to make grade
Now quickly add in operator's overtime
Allow four weeks to see one week of production
Mix these ingredients together then stand back,it's fixin' to blow up in your face!!!
Now take a 55 gallon barrel of DUMB ASS extract and pour it on the seat of an open air D-4 and place it on a job site, cutting final grade in Fort Smith.
Dish = (insert operator's name of your choice)
Note: Don't worry about serving dish it serves it's self !!!!!!!!
can anybody tell me what this means?

tomorrow is u.n. day AND yesterday was the last day of the last week of ramadan
if that isn't a goocher i don't know what is! all emphasis mine throughout.
celebrate, celebrate - dance to the music~!
of course you know i jest...
what was fdr thinking?
"United Nations Day was established by Presidential Proclamation to commemorate the establishment of the United Nations in 1945.
It is celebrated very generally in all states and American possessions, and by all eighty-one countries, which are members of the United Nations for the purpose of informing the people of the world as to the aims, purposes, and achievements of the UN. The day is part of the United Nations Week, October 20-26.
The name "United Nations" was devised by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt and was first used in the "Declaration by United Nations" of January 1, 1942, during the Second World War, when representatives of 26 nations pledged their governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers."
now, all the "axis powers" are MEMBERS of the united nations! oh the irony.
now a little lesson in the etiquette (or etiqute as they put it) of the last week of ramadan:
" O people ! A great and blessed month is going to set in on you. Each night of this month is better than a thousand months. God has made fasting obligatory during this month and has ordained Taravih as a supplementary prayer. Any man who performs a good deed during this month of his own free wolition will receive a reward equal to the reward for obligatory deeds performed during other month, he shall receive a reward equal to the reward of seventy obligatory acts during other month ".
i did not edit this one - what's a "wolition" and where may i get one? is it the same place they get wiagra? do they become wiolent if their rewards are few? they don't have the wertibrate to handle this task!
"11. Show utmost tenderness and affection to people in the month of Ramadan. *Provide maximum facilities to your employees and supply their needs with extreme liberality. Deal with members with kindness and generosity."
i'll be back as soon as i compose myself!
...that may be sometime next year at this time...
*somebody please tell me WHO they employ?
where may i find some obscurity?
Dear G_d help u.s. now. thank you ahead of time.
i-i-i'll be okay...

an excellent read
i'm not one to do the cut and paste on a regular basis, however, i feel this may be the time and place - TODAY, NOW, YESTERDAY - there are NO guarantees in tomorrow! emphasis here and at the end are mine.
it is an excellent read, not because i wrote it or say so. U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Ok), spoke these words on the senate floor on 03/04/02 and they could not be more timely or appropriate to what is going on in this world:
"I was interested the other day when I heard that the de facto Saudi ruler, Crown Prince Abdullah, made a statement which was received by many in this country as if it were a statement of fact, as if it were something new, a concept for peace in the Middle East that no one had ever heard of before. I was kind of shocked that it was so well received by many people who had been down this road before.
I suggest to you that what Crown Prince Abdullah talked about a few days ago was not new at all. He talked about the fact that under the Abdullah plan, Arabs would normalize relations with Israel in exchange for the Jewish state surrendering the territory it received after the Six Day War, as if that were something new...
[But] there isn't anything new about the prospect of giving up land that is rightfully Israel's land in order to have peace. When it gets right down to it, the land doesn't make that much difference, because Yasser Arafat and others don't recognize Israel's right to any of the land. They do not recognize Israel's right to exist.
Yasser Arafat and others don't recognize Israel's right to any of the land. They do not recognize Israel's right to exist.
I will discuss seven reasons why Israel is entitled to the land they have and that it should not be a part of the peace process. If this is something that Israel wants to do, it is their business to do it. But anyone who has tried to put the pressure on Israel to do this is wrong.
We are going to be hit by skeptics who are going to say we will be attacked because of our support for Israel, and if we get out of the Middle East -- that is us -- all the problems will go away. That is just not true. If we withdraw, all of these problems will again come to our door. I have some observations to make about that.
But I would like to reemphasize once again the seven reasons that Israel has the right to their land.
1) ARCHEOLOGY
The first reason is that Israel has the right to the land because of all of the archeological evidence. All the archeological evidence supports it. Every time there is a dig in Israel, it does nothing but support the fact that Israelis have had a presence there for 3,000 years. The coins, the cities, the pottery, the culture -- there are other people, groups that are there, but there is no mistaking the fact that Israelis have been present in that land for 3,000 years. It predates any claims that other peoples in the region may have.
The ancient Philistines are extinct. Many other ancient peoples are extinct. They do not have the unbroken line to this date that the Israelis have. Even the Egyptians of today are not racial Egyptians of 2,000, 3,000 years ago. They are primarily an Arab people. The land is called Egypt, but they are not the same racial and ethnic stock as the old Egyptians of the ancient world.
The Israelis are in fact descended from the original Israelites.
2) HISTORY
The second proof of Israel's right to the land is the historic right. History supports it totally and completely. We know there has been an Israel up until the time of the Roman Empire. The Romans conquered the land. Israel had no homeland, although Jews were allowed to live there. They were driven from the land in two dispersions: One in 70 A.D. and the other in 135 A.D. But there was always a Jewish presence in the land.
The Turks, who took over about 700 years ago and ruled the land up until about World War One, had control. Then the land was conquered by the British. The Turks entered World War One on the side of Germany. The British knew they had to do something to punish Turkey, and also to break up that empire that was going to be a part of the whole effort of Germany in World War One. So the British sent troops against the Turks in the Holy Land.
One of the generals who was leading the British armies was a man named Allenby. Allenby was a Bible-believing Christian. He carried a Bible with him everywhere he went and he knew the significance of Jerusalem. The night before the attack against Jerusalem to drive out the Turks, Allenby prayed that God would allow him to capture the city without doing damage to the holy places.
That day, Allenby sent World War One biplanes over the city of Jerusalem to do a reconnaissance mission. You have to understand that the Turks had at that time never seen an airplane. So there they were, flying around. They looked in the sky and saw these fascinating inventions and did not know what they were, and they were terrified by them.
They dared not fight against a prophet from God, so Allenby captured Jerusalem without firing a single shot.
Then they were told they were going to be opposed by a man named Allenby the next day, which means, in their language, "man sent from God" or "prophet from God." They dared not fight against a prophet from God, so the next morning, when Allenby went to take Jerusalem, he went in and captured it without firing a single shot.
The British government was grateful to Jewish people around the world, particularly to one Jewish chemist who helped them manufacture niter. Niter is an ingredient that was used in nitroglycerin which was sent over from the New World. But they did not have a way of getting it to England. The German U-boats were shooting on the boats, so most of the niter they were trying to import to make nitroglycerin was at the bottom of the ocean. But a man named Weitzman, a Jewish chemist, discovered a way to make it from materials that existed in England. As a result, they were able to continue that supply.
The British at that time said they were going to give the Jewish people a homeland. That is all written down in history. They were gratified that the Jewish people, the bankers, came through and helped finance the war.
The homeland that Britain said it would set aside consisted of all of what is now Israel and all of what was then the nation of Jordan -- the whole thing. That was what Britain promised to give the Jews in 1917. In the beginning, there was some Arab support for this action. There was not a huge Arab population in the land at that time, and there is a reason for that. The land was not able to sustain a large population of people. It just did not have the development it needed to handle those people, and nobody really wanted this land. It was considered to be worthless land.
Mark Twain -- Samuel Clemens -- took a tour of Palestine in 1867. This is how he described that land. We are talking about Israel now. He said: "A desolate country whose soil is rich enough but is given over wholly to weeds. A silent, mournful expanse. We never saw a human being on the whole route. There was hardly a tree or a shrub anywhere. Even the olive and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, had almost deserted the country."
Where was this great Palestinian nation? It did not exist. It was not there. Palestinians were not there. Palestine was a region named by the Romans, but at that time it was under the control of Turkey, and there was no large mass of people there because the land would not support them.
This is the report that the Palestinian Royal Commission, created by the British, made. It quotes an account of the conditions on the coastal plain along the Mediterranean Sea in 1913. The Palestinian Royal Commission said:
"The road leading from Gaza to the north was only a summer track, suitable for transport by camels or carts. No orange groves, orchards or vineyards were to be seen until one reached the Yavnev village. Houses were mud. Schools did not exist. The western part toward the sea was almost a desert. The villages in this area were few and thinly populated. Many villages were deserted by their inhabitants."
That was 1913.
The French author Voltaire described Palestine as "a hopeless, dreary place." In short, under the Turks the land suffered from neglect and low population. That is a historic fact. The nation became populated by both Jews and Arabs because the land came to prosper when Jews came back and began to reclaim it. If there had never been any archaeological evidence to support the rights of the Israelis to the territory, it is also important to recognize that other nations in the area have no longstanding claim to the country either.
Did you know that Saudi Arabia was not created until 1913, Lebanon until 1920? Iraq did not exist as a nation until 1932, Syria until 1941. The borders of Jordan were established in 1946 and Kuwait in 1961. Any of these nations that would say Israel is only a recent arrival would have to deny their own rights as recent arrivals as well. They did not exist as countries. They were all under the control of the Turks.
Historically, Israel gained its independence in 1948.
3) AGRICULTURE
The third reason that land belongs to Israel is the practical value of the Israelis being there. Israel today is a modern marvel of agriculture. Israel is able to bring more food out of a desert environment than any other country in the world. The Arab nations ought to make Israel their friend and import technology from Israel that would allow all the Middle East, not just Israel, to become an exporter of food. Israel has unarguable success in its agriculture.
4) HUMANITARIAN
The fourth reason I believe Israel has the right to the land is on the grounds of humanitarian concern. You see, there were 6 million Jews slaughtered in Europe during World War Two. The persecution against the Jews had been very strong in Russia since the advent of communism, and before then under the Czars.
These people have a right to their homeland. If we are not going to allow them a homeland in the Middle East, then where? What other nation on Earth is going to cede territory, is going to give up land?
They are not asking for a great deal. The whole nation of Israel would fit into my home state of Oklahoma seven times. They are not asking for a great deal. The whole nation of Israel is very small. It is a nation that, up until the time that claims started coming in, was not desired by anybody.
5) STRATEGIC ALLY
The fifth reason Israel ought to have their land is that she is a strategic ally of the United States. Whether we realize it or not, Israel is an impediment to certain groups hostile to democracies and hostile to what we believe in, hostile to that which makes us the greatest nation in the history of the world. They have kept them from taking complete control of the Middle East. If it were not for Israel, they would overrun the region.
Israel votes with America in the United Nations more than England, Canada, France, Germany -- more than any other country in the world.
They are our strategic ally. It is good to know we have a friend in the Middle East on whom we can count. They vote with us in the United Nations more than England, more than Canada, more than France, more than Germany -- more than any other country in the world.
6) ROADBLOCK TO TERRORISM
The sixth reason is that Israel is a roadblock to terrorism. The war we are now facing is not against a sovereign nation; it is against a group of terrorists who are very fluid, moving from one country to another. They are almost invisible. That is whom we are fighting against today. We need every ally we can get. If we do not stop terrorism in the Middle East, it will be on our shores.
One of the reasons I believe the spiritual door was opened for an attack against the United States is that the policy of our government has been to ask the Israelis, and demand it with pressure, not to retaliate in a significant way against the terrorist strikes that have been launched against them.
Since its independence in 1948, Israel has fought four wars: The 1948 War of Independence, the 1956 Sinai campaign, the 1967 Six Day War, and the 1973 Yom Kippur War. In all four cases, Israel was attacked. They were not the aggressor. Some people may argue that this was not true because they went in first in 1956, but they knew at that time that Egypt was building a huge military to become the aggressor. Israel, in fact, was not the aggressor and has not been the aggressor in any of the four wars.
Also, they won all four wars against impossible odds. They are great warriors. They consider a level playing field being outnumbered 2-to-1.
There were 39 Scud missiles that landed on Israeli soil during the Gulf War. Our president asked Israel not to respond. In order to have the Arab nations on board, we asked Israel not to participate in the war. They showed tremendous restraint and did not. Now we have asked them to stand back and not do anything over these last several attacks. We have criticized them. We have criticized them in our media. Local people in television and radio often criticize Israel, not knowing the true facts. We need to be informed.
I was so thrilled when I heard a reporter pose a question to Secretary of State Colin Powell. He said: "Mr. Powell, the United States has advocated a policy of restraint in the Middle East. We have discouraged Israel from retaliation again and again and again because we've said that it escalates the violence. Are we going to follow that ourselves?"
Mr. Powell indicated we would strike back. In other words, we can tell Israel not to do it, but when it hits us, we are going to do something.
But all that changed in December when the Israelis went into Gaza with gunships and into the West Bank with F-16s. With the exception of last May, the Israelis had not used F-16s since the Six Day War. And I am so proud of them because we have to stop terrorism. It is not going to go away. If Israel were driven into the sea tomorrow, if every Jew in the Middle East were killed, terrorism would not end. You know that in your heart. Terrorism would continue. It is not just a matter of Israel in the Middle East. It is the heart of the very people who are perpetrating this stuff. Should they be successful in overrunning Israel -- which they won't be -- but should they be, it would not be enough. They will never be satisfied.
7) BIBLICAL RIGHT
I believe very strongly that we ought to support Israel, and that it has a right to the land, because God said so. In Genesis 13:14-17, the Bible says: "The Lord said to Abram, "Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, southward, eastward and westward: for all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed forever... Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to thee."
That is God talking. The Bible says that Abram removed his tent and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar before the Lord. Hebron is in the West Bank. It is at this place where God appeared to Abram and said, "I am giving you this land" -- the West Bank. This is not a political battle at all. It is a contest over whether or not the word of God is true.
CONCLUSION
The seven reasons, I am convinced, clearly establish that Israel has a right to the land. Eight years ago on the White House lawn, Yitzhak Rabin shook hands with PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat. It was a historic occasion. It was a tragic occasion. At that time, the official policy of the government of Israel began to be, "Let us appease the terrorists. Let us begin to trade the land for peace." This process continued unabated up until last year.
Here in our own nation, at Camp David in the summer of 2000, then-Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Barak offered the most generous concessions to Yasser Arafat that had ever been laid on the table. He offered him more than 90 percent of all the West Bank territory, sovereign control of it. There were some parts he did not want to offer, but in exchange he said he would give up land in Israel proper that the PLO had not even asked for.
Barak even spoke of dividing Jerusalem. Arafat stormed out of the meeting.
And he also did the unthinkable. He even spoke of dividing Jerusalem and allowing the Palestinians to have their capital there. Yasser Arafat stormed out of the meeting. Why did he storm out of the meeting? Everything he said he wanted was offered there. It was put into his hands. Why did he storm out of the meeting? A couple of months later, there began to be riots, terrorism. The riots began when now-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon went to the Temple Mount. And this was used as the thing that lit the fire and caused the explosion. Did you know that Sharon did not go unannounced and that he contacted the Islamic authorities before he went and secured their permission to be there? It was no surprise.
The response was very carefully calculated. They knew the world would not pay attention to the details. They would portray this in the Arab world as an attack upon the holy mosque and use it as an excuse to riot. Over the last eight years, during this time of the peace process, where the Israeli public has pressured its leaders to give up land for peace because they are tired of fighting, there has been increased terror.
In fact, it has been greater in the last eight years than any other time in Israel's history. Showing restraint and giving in has not produced any kind of peace. It is so much so that today the leftist peace movement in Israel does not exist because the people feel they were deceived. They offered a hand of peace, and it was not taken. That is why the politics of Israel have changed drastically over the past 12 months. The Israelis have come to see that, "No matter what we do, these people do not want to deal with us... They want to destroy us."
That is why even yet today the stationery of the PLO still has upon it the map of the entire state of Israel, not just the little part they call the West Bank. They want it all.
We have to get out of this mindset that somehow you can buy peace in the Middle East by giving little plots of land. It has not worked before when it has been offered.
These seven reasons show why Israel is entitled to that land.
I yield the floor."
is goodness and rightness a thing of the past? i'm beginning to believe wholeheartedly we are sliding into that which we cannot recover. don't get me wrong - i look forward to eternity - it's the in between which causes my heart sadness.
it is an excellent read, not because i wrote it or say so.
Terrorism would continue. logical? you tell me
for the umpteenth time in the last month, i've read articles pertaining to some grand mullah, or some other lowly muzzie talking head, calling for muslims to leave the u.s. as they are about to attack us AGAIN.
two things that do not compute:
why aren't they getting the hell out?
why would they want to nuke a country, thus making it uninhabitable, they plan to take over?
if they would ONLY start leaving in droves, perhaps then i would take them seriously.

"oh boo" moment #16 1/2
yeah, i know the follow-ups have not followed up - but the other "oh boo" moments are still in the making.
we have a big time at nanchouse when everyone gets home - EVERY SINGLE DAY!
this evening happened to be a slow night so nancpop and nancson sat down for a game of trivial pursuit - they use me as their mulligan (think golf). when they cannot answer a question, they ask me.
things were rolling along as i was reading my news when i heard nancpop ask nancson, "what's the base of the soup "vicky soo say"? honest. as i turned to look at nancson i realized he'd perfected that cocked dumb dog look and goofy "tim the tool man" whine tim allen was famous for.
as i was about to fall off my chair - nancson said, "what?" and my husband repeated it verbatim. so, i went ahead and fell out of the chair - OW!
once i wiped the tears from my eyes and the snot from my nose - i thought "now is a very good time to step in."
do you mean "vichysoisse"? both, in unison, "huh?" me, "the soup." them, in unison (dayam they're good), "huh?" me, "the french potato soup? - vichysoisse?"
my word! you'd think two men who are quite aware of what a "porte cochere" is would know what "vichysoisse" is...
those pesky french.

MADZIONIST FAMILY CYBER BABY SHOWER!
welcome one and all - friends and family of madzionist.
my apologies to any i missed in sending out invites.
as many of you know, madze is solely responsible for keeping a few of us moonbat fighter pilot orphans together after mbc shoved us out of the nest. we didn't know where else to go so landed on his cyber doorstep. he hasn't been able to get rid of us since.
in the last year plus we've seen babygirl-z turn one and had the pleasure of being in on the birth of bargholz the younger who is coming up on HIS first birthday!
we teased madze as to when he and mama z would have another -- i believe it was kuhnkat who recommended they practice several times a day...must've worked as a new babyboy-z is due within the month.
i could not be more excited for the madzionist family if it were my own. the succeeding short posts are for your participatory pleasure - take part in one or all. thank you for attending and remember - THIS IS A BYOBEER EVENT!
p.s. - i had hired a circus clown, but i think he may be a little late - something about being like a head with its chicken cut off!

how BIG around is mama z game?
this is a game most of the women will recognize.
nancpop and i have hosted a couple of coed baby showers and if you ever have the opportunity - DO THAT! i don't believe i've ever seen so many men have such a good time - honestly!
take a piece of string or yarn and get belly to belly with your schweetie; if you don't have a schweetie use one of your kidz or a neighbor up the street - hey they need a hug anyway - put the string around you both - cut off the excess or add a few inches. and report back here the inches or FEET.
madzionist duty here will be to e-mail me the belly measurement of mama z and i will let y'all know who's closest and wins this game.
Dear Lord, please let it be elbro - maybe he'll forget about the door...

blessed and peaceful yom kippur to all
who await the arrival of our Messiah. i refer you to isaiah 53.
here are a few comments i read in this month's "levitt letter":
golda meir:
"we can forgive the arabs for killing our children. we cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. we will only have peace with the arabs when they love their children more than they hate us."
author unknown:
"if the arabs laid down their weapons, there would be no more war. if israel laid down its weapons, there would be no more israel."
once again, if you do not receive the levitt letter, you are missing out on one of the very best free publications on the planet.
as zola used to say, "pray for the peace of jerusalem."

a segue - i don't know about y'all, but
THIS angers me beyond belief:
"President’s Ramadan Message — 2006
September 22, 2006
I send greetings to the many Muslims observing Ramadan in America and around the world.
Ramadan is the holiest time of the Muslim year and an important holiday when Muslims take time for prayer, fasting, and personal sacrifice. According to Islamic teachings, this month represents when God delivered His word to the prophet Muhammad in the form of the Qur'an. Ramadan is also an opportunity to gather with friends and family and show thanks for God's blessings through works of charity.
Ramadan and the upcoming holiday seasons are a good time to remember the common values that bind us together. Our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens whose commitment to faith reminds us of the gift of religious freedom in our country.
Laura and I send our best wishes for a blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak.
GEORGE W. BUSH"
of what/whose god is he speaking? will someone please enlighten me?

Watch out for them thar Pigs!!
Last Saturday, I worked a 16 1/2 hour day.
It was a nightmare, everything went wrong.
By the time I was done and started home, it was 1 AM. I was totally exhausted and it was raining.
I use a old State highway as a shortcut. It is a little traveled winding road with occasional farm houses every two or three miles.
As I topped a small rise, 5 or 6 medium sized pigs were running across the road. I hit my brakes and skidded to a stop but not before hitting one of the pigs.
I got out of the car to see if the pig was dead and check for damage. There wasn't any damage to the car but the pig was dead. I thought it would be best to tell the pigs owner what happened but there wasn't a house in sight so I got back in the car and left figuring that would be the end of it.
Imagine my surprise when I received a bill in the mail for a 60 lb pig!

update: porte cochere incident
as you all may or may not know, my refrigerator was all but destroyed in the aforementioned bloodbath. it overfroze in the freezer and the refrigerator section would barely work at all.
as we could not really afford to go purchase a new refrigerator at the time, we kept many things in ice chests for over two months. that's alotta ice. actually - any new refrigerator money we had went to repairing the truck and window.
we do not like to benefit from the misfortune of others, but it seems someone forgot or just refused to pay their storage bill at a local storage so the owners had a HUGE tag sale here awhile back. sitting there in all its glory was a clean sears kenmore, side-by-side, frost-free, with an icemaker, refrigerator/freezer.
now here's the part you won't believe:
TWENTY-FIVE BUCKS!
pay your storage bill stupid...

"false-stinians"
each day i pore through articles from about twenty magazines and newspapers on the internet. we have several monthly subscriptions coming to our home. however, there is only one FREE magazine we receive that i read from cover to cover each month, "the levitt letter" and you may link to it here.
the excellent article by stuart arden i'm referencing can be found on pages 24 and 25. here is an excerpt from the article you will find interesting:
"Arab history books clearly state that they conquered
“Palestine” from the Byzantines in the 7th century C.E.,
and that’s the fact and the countering argument to this
is fabrication. Practically every Arab village of today
bears a “corrupted” version of the Hebrew (or Aramaic)
village-name of the previous (Jewish!) inhabitants that
had been forced out by the Arab invaders: Anata is Anatot
(the village of the prophet Jeremiah), Batir is Baytar (the
village of Shimon Bar Kochba), even Ramallah, today’s
defacto “capital,” of this fictitious “people” is Ramah
(the village of the prophet Samuel) etc., positive proof
of what was really going on in the Holy Land.
Finally, there is no letter “P” in the Arabic alphabet; ask
an Arab studying computers what his subject is, and he’ll
say “combuters.” How about a little Shakesbeare? Hamlet
was a brince and he lived in a balace and blayed with
other children. Does it make sense that “a people” would
name “their” country with a letter that doesn’t even exist
in their own alphabet?! The reason is obvious. They don’t
call themselves Falas-tinians because they know they’re
a fallacy!"
the aforementioned article was originally printed at this link.

"oh boo" moment #4
here awhile back while on the observation deck - remember your suthun - could've been an hour ago or last week - a last minute trek to the grocery before a storm hit i was put face to face with a guy who had a t-shirt on which boldly declared "CHICK MAGNET"!
while he was pretty enough, i must first apologize to warren for that time i called him a "CHICK MAGNET". i'm sorry, warren.
as i checked this guy out for what was so magnetizing, starting at head level and working my way down...okay, okay - so he had lovely, thick, dirty blond, curly hair - big blue eyes that looked as though you could dive into them and then came the obnoxious t-shirt. all of a sudden he went metro-sexual on me - his culottes were far cuter than my shorts! that's it for him!
did i stop there? no, i did not. my first thought was, "what kind of shoes would i wear with those culottes?" ahhhhhh, yes - the little black satin slides!
back to what i perceive as reality - he was wearing a very ratty pair of flip-flops - and at this point it really didn't matter what color they were as i was so angry and don't quite know what kept me from tripping him right there at the cash register other than the fact his toenails were painted a lovely salmon red, while my own are painted a drab mauve.
mentally scratching my head and forgetting why i was there, i wondered if i am the only person to whom these things happen in the space of seven and a half seconds?

The French Disease, (no the other one, silly!)
One of the things that urks me is the reliance on French style diplomacy that seems to be the "norm" in International politics.
I have always seen it as endless chatter that seeks only to further bureaucratic process with no teeth. In other words, meaningless.
With doublespeaking France, honor gets lost in translation

French is the traditional language of diplomacy. Diplomacy is the art of saying one thing while doing another.
In recent weeks, France stepped forward to act as a broker of peace in Lebanon. "Act" is the key verb in that last sentence, as it now would seem that the only other verifiable part of the sentence is "in recent weeks."
To correctly parse that sentence, one must understand that when France suggested it wanted to broker peace in Lebanon, it did not necessarily mean "broker" or "peace" or "Lebanon" in the way we might understand those words. The same is true when France further suggested it wanted to "lead" a "strong" "multinational" "force" there.
I don't speak French, so I have no idea what the actual French words are for those concepts or what possible nuances there may be. I've been relying on news reports in English, which now inform me that the French do not intend to send any significant number of troops to what is supposed to be a force of 15,000 in Lebanon, like everyone thought they said they would.
The heady moment of peace brokering having passed, uponsober reflection, the French now say they already have a general and some staff in south Lebanon ordering about UNIFIL, the U.N. monitoring entity there. That's plenty of leadership, the French suggested: All France needs to contribute now is another 200 combat engineers.
In tactical terms, when it comes to securing a Middle East conflict zone, that can be referred to as "squat."
The United Nations, which is trying to salvage what is left of its own self-respect after the utter failure of UNIFIL in Lebanon, is now publicly begging European nations to contribute troops.
To find the last plain-speaking French leader, it is necessary to go back to Napoleon Bonaparte. He said he was going to take over Europe, and proceeded to do so. No, scratch that. He said he was going to bring French liberty and equality to Europe, then crowned himself emperor. Subsequent French history offers us a sordid string of third world colonizations followed by bloody wars to hang on long after the time to relinquish colonies had passed, setting the stage for corrupt government and prolonged conflict in places like Vietnam.
More recently, we've seen the naked hypocrisy of Dominic de Villepin in the United Nations, braying about his humanitarian concerns for the Iraqi people, while trying to ensure mass murderer Saddam Hussein remained in power to honor his French contracts.
The shamelessness of France knows no bounds. They have a domestic Arabic population and business interests in the Mideast to satisfy. They desperately want to be taken seriously as a major power. So they sat down with the United States and hammered out a peace plan. Then, before the ink was dry, they shrugged a Gallic shrug.
I wish I could be charitable here and find some good excuses for the French. Ernest Hemingway, who had a soft spot for them, used to like to say, "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk." But Hemingway, unlike the French, had a sense of honor.
French was once the lingua franca, back when men wore powdered wigs and France was a power to be reckoned with. None of those things are true now. French has been replaced by English as the language of foreign policy, business, tourism, the Internet and just about everything else.
If we, those of us who enjoy conducting business in English rather than say, Chinese or Arabic, want it to stay that way, I'd suggest step one is that we should continue to state clearly our intentions and do what we say we aregoing to do. Even when the world doesn't necessarily like what we are saying.
That is our French lesson for the day.

Word From the West Coast
Although it hasn't received much attention in the MSM, (certainly not the same attention that a bunch of "Blame America First" nitwits would get). Nicole Kidman took out a full-page ad that ran in the Los Angeles Times, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. Here it is, (in the below link), with the endorsements of 83 other Hollywood types.
Its too large to post on this blog and remain legible so I've posted it as a linked JPG file.
Three cheers for these people and thank you for showing us that not every name in the entertainment industry is a moron!
Take a look at the names, I found a few surprises.

More on Green Helmet
Lights! Cameras! Action
By the way.
Juan Mancha de Mierda, (john brown stain), ask me in a deleted post; "Who's the bigger liar: Muslims or your hero, MafiaDon Rumsfeld?"
I will deign to answer that question.
Juan, you are by far a bigger liar than either one!
Lies infest your posts like maggots on a week old rotting corpse. Your life is a lie and your ideology is a patchwork of small lies and greater lies covered with more lies to hide them.
You know you are a liar, everyone knows you're a liar, but you have lied so long that you believe some of them. I would say that you are a greater liar than the Islamo-fascists that you love so well, but I've noticed that you have mentioned your religion several times, pointedly refusing to say what it is. So you might very well be a Muslim convert. Lord knows, you know little enough about the Quran or what it says to actually be a typical Muslim fascist.
God bless Donald Rumsfeld and give you that which you so richly deserve.

All the "News" that's Unfit to Print

I guess that by now, every person that owns a computer is aware of the Reuters controversy. If not you can get a glimpse HERE at the EU Referendum blog.
Its said, ad nasum, that truth is the first casualty of war.
That being said, we expect it from propagandists but we should not have to put up with it from supposedly "neutral" sources.
This poses the rhetorical question; isn't a "news agency" acting as the agent of the enemy when it willfully publishes enemy propaganda? And make no mistake about it, Hezbolla is our sworn enemy and second only to Al Qaeda in the deaths of American citizens.
Now a very real question, Why aren't these people treated as enemy agents and collaborators by the governments of The UK and USA?
The MSM has become a showplace for a never ending stream of Islamo-fascist propaganda in the guise of reporting the "news". Staged events and pictures make the headlines and it seems as though the editors of these purveyors of lies are unaware of what's going on.
Well, EXCUSE ME! I'm not buying it for a minute. The main stream news rags have as much to do with truth as john browns blog. In fact, there is very little difference. They have become so used to unquestioned belief that Reuters even publishes an obviously photoshoped picture and expects us to lap it up, then acts indignant when called on it.
Other doctored photos are popping up now but the real question is, how many other photos have been doctored in a more professional manner, how many staged events are offered as spontaneous events, how much of their "news", is just a load of crap?
When the Abu Grabe photos were originally "leaked", they were bundled with other photos purportedly showing US servicemen raping an Iraqi woman. (That was before I started this blog.) Those photos turned out to be from a Canadian porn site. I was one of the first to point out they were fakes and other people ran with the story.
The "soldiers" carried no weapons, wore black tennis shoes, their "uniforms" were actually Realtree camouflaged hunters garb (not even desert camo), no rank, unit insignia, or name tags or even places where they had been removed. I enlarged the pictures and placed the examples next to real US uniforms. Even with those examples, some people refused to believe that they weren't real.
I have no doubt that those photos would have been included with the naked twister pics if they hadn't been thoroughly squashed beforehand.
As some of you know, I have some small skills in image manipulation. To me, the image is so obviously "shoped", I don't know how any editor could believe it wasn't, even with just a cursory glance.
If that's all the better that Reuters can do in their photo propaganda department, maybe they should hire me!

O.C.D. (obsessive/compulsive disorder)
I think I have it, do you? Although I’m not too fond of the disorder part…
Statistics heard are approximately 85% of the population has it. They’re wrong, as usual.
I refuse on a daily basis to go to the doctor to find out. How many others do not want confirmation of this and fight the urge to see someone about it? Why, there must be enough to drive that number up to 99% because, hey, 100% would be perfect and we all know…hahahahahahahahahahaha!!! You moron!!!
The most common form I’ve seen is the hand washing disorder. Our son had it from a very early age and after a few years of sky high water bills I politely told him, “Oedipus, you must stop this nonsense before your hands crack off from the dryness you’re creating from too much water!” He responded, “Really mama?” “Really son.” And he quit! Just like that! Okay, so I didn’t call him Oedipus - his father did.
The nurturing side of me feeling sorry for him started buying him the germex-type waterless, anti-bacterial hand cleaners as a consolation. After a couple of years of that I had to look at myself and say, “Your majesty, who is the ruler here?” So I stopped buying it and VOILA! He quit.
My immediate thoughts were, “hmmmmmmm, who is developing these o.c.d. patterns here?” That rotten kid is trying to control me! I won’t have it! So, after four showers that day I decided to get into a different swing of things.
I was going to narrow down my opening of the washer lid during the wash cycle from 16 to 10 to 4 to 2. Lo and behold, it took only a couple of years and that one incident at the Laundromat with the front load washer--------eeeeeeek-------banned from that Laundromat! Just kidding…but I did all but quit…
Experts say o.c.d. is not really a problem unless it affects those around you. Drugs are prescribed in the most severe of cases and if I liked doctors or drugs would probably be a good candidate. What is my compulsion you may ask? Sorry, not telling until you tell me yours! hahahahahahahahahahah!!! You moron!!!
The easiest way to find out what your obsessive/compulsive trait is to go to the person you love and trust the most, and is also honest to a fault and ask them point blank.
This is how you do it: Say, “Honey, I know that you know that I know you love me beyond words and unconditionally, right?” They may say lovingly while smiling and nodding a lot, “Yeah, yeah, yeah--what is it?” This is where you find out if they’re a liar as you gently point out, “There are some eentsy-beentsy little things about you that bug the crappe out of me and while I’m as near to perfect as one can be, is there any minoot thing about me that drives you over the edge?”
When you tell them they have a week or so to think it over and they answer immediately, “Why no babe, you’re as perfect as you’ll ever be!” LIAR!!!
Before I go, let me say, there is something very liberating about wearing your underwear OUTSIDE your clothing!
