Okay. I'm in charge.

Here's my first proclamation:

NANNY-NANNY-NOO-NOO!

[Hat-tip to Farmer, who has taught all of us here the useful and universal applicability of that phrase]

Oh how I love crisis management! I've had plenty of practice in that method in our arenas. Now here too!

Now, where's the fatwah back to go along with my collard greens? We need a party!

nanny-nanny-noo-noo!

it feels so good to not be in charge! anymore...

Nanc,
You can see how, um, seriously I take this role. Hehehe.

But enjoy your little break. If you really take it, that is.

Well, sister, how's the throne feel? Or the stool since we are talking about our Beloved Brother, "THE CHIEF"!
I'll bring the baked beans! And something chocolate for dessert, or would your Worshipful Astuteness prefer some Rasberry Elegance cake? With fresh berries on the side?
And where are those Praetorian Guards? EB??????????? Oh, right, his daughter is getting married, drats! Farmer?????????????
Have a fun evening, and fresh fatwah for breakfast your Worshipful Astuteness!

I'd be a great Praetorian--it's in my blood! What the heck is going on here? Any news would help relieve the confusion on my part.

we're just sharin' the load, flo.

TMW,
how's the throne feel? Or the stool since we are talking about our Beloved Brother, "THE CHIEF"!

I hear that things are better in that department.

I love raspberries. Chocolate too.

Unfortunately, I won't be in charge here most of tomorrow--classes to teach all day (9-5).

I delegate my leadership for tomorrow to any one of my deputies who cares to volunteer.

florian, you're in.

I've sent word to Brittanicus and Germanicus. Once the triumvirs meet, we'll decide whether or not it will be necessary to cross the Rubicon. You should probably begin searching your recipe books for the means of staving off an armed revolt. BTW- we insist that any honoraria you might feel compelled to offer to the praetorians be of a kosher nature. Our Judean colleagues are getting tired of being deprived of the spoils they so richly deserve.

florian,

I hereby dub thee, Hispanicus!

Leave one legion in Hispania Ulterior to defend Iberia and begin marching your other legion, currently in Hispania Citerior, towards Rome. Just follow the elephant droppings. And try to reach the Alps by springtime! We're expecting an early that.

Her Worshipful Astuteness had best beware the Ides of March!

nanc said...

i just like saying "nanny-nanny-noo-noo"!

nanc said...

p.s. - i do believe you can say that in only one of two circumstances:

1. if you are THE farmer

2. if you are a former or current leader in THE COMMUNITY.

it just sounds strange coming from anyone else.

Gayle said...

This is a very strange comment thread. But I'm a farmer so I can say "NANNY-NANNY-NOO-NOO!" (Nanc said so.) ;)

Enjoy your break, Nanc.

The Merry Widow said...

Gayle-It's supposed to be a strange thread! Why be normal? Or sane? Or not-strange? Or...?
Warren has been having a tussle with his sewer line! It grows roots and eats rooters! It really, really wants him to tear up the whole yard! And he has clay soil...
Your Worshipful Astuteness, your fatwaback is in the skillet, not the smacking one. How do you want your eggs? Toast, biscuit or english muffin?
Florian, errrr, Hispanicus, I believe you will be an honorable addition to that pack of...,noble legion! Picked over or untouched trailmix? BTW-why should you be any less confused than the rest of us? If you are confused, you're in!
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go cough all over Her Worshipful Astuteness's eggs...
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Agricola,
The Ides of March approaches! That reminds me that it's time to consider ordering some copies of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar for one of my classes.

Another thing about the Ides of March....My Latin 2 class is taking the National Latin Exam on that date. I just realized that! O me horrebo! Fortasse. Los alumnos multam diligentiam habent. Cotidie student.

Always On Watch said...

TMW,
I had chicken and toast for breakfast. No bacon and eggs. **sniff**

But perhaps I'll have bacon and eggs for dinner. I like to get my daily pork if at all possible.

Off to work in a few. Bummer!

Carry on here. I know you will.

The Merry Widow said...

Ebonicus-Would you like Nanc to come over to your site and "FIT IT FOR CURTAINS"? I can do a nice boudouir? Fluffy yellow and green ruffles and daffodil wallpaper, white wicker furniture with BOWS! Won't that be just darling?

tmwidowus

nanc said...

EBONICUS?

bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha!

nancicusinallseriousness

The Merry Widow said...

As in, "EB", he kind of deserved that, don't you think?
BTW-FJ(Agricola) decided he wasn't the curtaians and BIG PINK CABBAGE ROSE wallpaper kind of guy! No kilt for him!
So I told him to be a dear and trot back to the Praetorians...

tmw

elmers brother said...

the name is Elbronicus....black widow....the praetorians are not easily soothed...the only one who can dissolve the Guard is Constantine I. So until then....we demand!

Anonymous said...

I'd back you up here Elbronicus, but my gladius hispaniensis has been confiscated. Perhaps you should ally with Judeacus and Hispanicus. At last report they were assembling just north of the Rubicon.

Meanwhile, I've got some cookies to finish baking. Now, where did I put my apron....

elmers brother said...

Agriculturous drop the cookies...pick up your sword and meet your obligation.

elmers brother said...

btw Agricola beat Pepsi in the latest taste test

FLORIAN said...

FJ: I'll gladly take the honor of being called Florianus Hispanicus. But my homeland province is actually called Celtiberia (the capital is Numantia) in what you call Hispania Ulterior. Is Hannibal in the mountains yet?

The Merry Widow said...

Agricola-What kind of cookies?
EBONICUS-You like daffodils? On wallpaper? How about a minikilt with no sporran? Hmmmm? And just remember, black widows bite!
Florianus Hispanicus-I think you may be a civilizing element amongst the ravening hordes!

tmwidowus

elmers brother said...

I don't mind gentle breezes - so no sporran.

We call that going commando.

elmers brother said...

Where is Gluteus Maximus (aka Duhkkky) when you need him?

Anonymous said...

I don't know where the Barca's are at the moment, Florianus, how dry are the droppings you've been following? And sorry for the confusion about the locations of your legions, my map is a bit outdated.

As far as this revolt goes though, I'm sorry to report that my gladius wielding days were cut short. I've been demoted to KP wielding a baking pan and about a half a pound of chocolate chip cookie dough. I'm told that an army marches on its' stomach, and cooks are more precious than generals in this one.

Fair thee well, legions and cohorts. If Judeacus ever arrives, makes sure he doesn't hog all the gefelte fish! SPQR.

My Puerto Rican legions are ready to move on Rome.

We have a fleet of converted 57 Chevys outfitted by battle hardened Cuban refugees.

The Carthaginians are also trembling with fear...

The Merry Widow said...

Fern-Outfitted with what? Fuzzy dice? Want a face-off with my 4 wheel drive '95 Tahoe? I'll drive right over the '57 Chevy's, especially if they are dropped! And if they have boom-boxes, that'll just irritate the whoo-hah out of me, which means I may back up all over them AFTER I run 'em down! And spin my tires to take off the paint!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

I'm always late to these coups.

Anonymous said...

Either pick a title FN, or hereafter forever be known as Atlanticus (for I assume your Puerto Rican legions will be arriving by trireme).

Beamish, it's never too late to step out of your Coup DeVille and deliver the coup d'grace to this coup d'etat.

Me, I've abandoned this coup de plume. I've cookies to eat.

TMW,

The last words of many of our enemies has been,

"What the hell is a fuzzy dice necktie?"...

So speaks Spicatus!!!!!!!!!

nanc said...

and to think, i was going to call you my little enchiladicus!

The Merry Widow said...

Spicatus? Lawsey me, someone needs to tell him he's not pc! He might get sued by the Anti-American U-Civil Anti-Liberty Pro-Union!
And they can't give me a fuzzy-dice necktie when I am smearing them into the pavement! They will be grabbing their precious fuzzy-dice and running across the Caribbean home!

tmw
Nanc-Wrong spanish speaking country! I believe you should be thinking "jerk"!

nanc said...

why, i'd never call fern a jerk!

...not to his face anyway...

I've got the Heinz 57 hordes with General Couch Potatocus ready to cross the desert. Food and water are for the weak.

The Merry Widow said...

Ebonicus-I'll turn General Couch Potatocus into mashed potatos with gravy! My Tahoe is hungry...

Perhaps we can call in Jimmy Carter to help mediate this dispute before it breaks into a Civil War.

"Oh, Mr Peanut!..."
