a segue - i don't know about y'all, but

THIS angers me beyond belief:

"President’s Ramadan Message — 2006
September 22, 2006

I send greetings to the many Muslims observing Ramadan in America and around the world.

Ramadan is the holiest time of the Muslim year and an important holiday when Muslims take time for prayer, fasting, and personal sacrifice. According to Islamic teachings, this month represents when God delivered His word to the prophet Muhammad in the form of the Qur'an. Ramadan is also an opportunity to gather with friends and family and show thanks for God's blessings through works of charity.

Ramadan and the upcoming holiday seasons are a good time to remember the common values that bind us together. Our society is enriched by our Muslim citizens whose commitment to faith reminds us of the gift of religious freedom in our country.

Laura and I send our best wishes for a blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak.

GEORGE W. BUSH"

of what/whose god is he speaking? will someone please enlighten me?

Watch out for them thar Pigs!!

Last Saturday, I worked a 16 1/2 hour day.

It was a nightmare, everything went wrong.

By the time I was done and started home, it was 1 AM. I was totally exhausted and it was raining.

I use a old State highway as a shortcut. It is a little traveled winding road with occasional farm houses every two or three miles.

As I topped a small rise, 5 or 6 medium sized pigs were running across the road. I hit my brakes and skidded to a stop but not before hitting one of the pigs.

I got out of the car to see if the pig was dead and check for damage. There wasn't any damage to the car but the pig was dead. I thought it would be best to tell the pigs owner what happened but there wasn't a house in sight so I got back in the car and left figuring that would be the end of it.

Imagine my surprise when I received a bill in the mail for a 60 lb pig!

i miss always on watch

how about you?

update: porte cochere incident

as you all may or may not know, my refrigerator was all but destroyed in the aforementioned bloodbath. it overfroze in the freezer and the refrigerator section would barely work at all.

as we could not really afford to go purchase a new refrigerator at the time, we kept many things in ice chests for over two months. that's alotta ice. actually - any new refrigerator money we had went to repairing the truck and window.

we do not like to benefit from the misfortune of others, but it seems someone forgot or just refused to pay their storage bill at a local storage so the owners had a HUGE tag sale here awhile back. sitting there in all its glory was a clean sears kenmore, side-by-side, frost-free, with an icemaker, refrigerator/freezer.

now here's the part you won't believe:

TWENTY-FIVE BUCKS!

pay your storage bill stupid...

"false-stinians"

each day i pore through articles from about twenty magazines and newspapers on the internet. we have several monthly subscriptions coming to our home. however, there is only one FREE magazine we receive that i read from cover to cover each month, "the levitt letter" and you may link to it here.

the excellent article by stuart arden i'm referencing can be found on pages 24 and 25. here is an excerpt from the article you will find interesting:

"Arab history books clearly state that they conquered
“Palestine” from the Byzantines in the 7th century C.E.,
and that’s the fact and the countering argument to this
is fabrication. Practically every Arab village of today
bears a “corrupted” version of the Hebrew (or Aramaic)
village-name of the previous (Jewish!) inhabitants that
had been forced out by the Arab invaders: Anata is Anatot
(the village of the prophet Jeremiah), Batir is Baytar (the
village of Shimon Bar Kochba), even Ramallah, today’s
defacto “capital,” of this fictitious “people” is Ramah
(the village of the prophet Samuel) etc., positive proof
of what was really going on in the Holy Land.

Finally, there is no letter “P” in the Arabic alphabet; ask
an Arab studying computers what his subject is, and he’ll
say “combuters.” How about a little Shakesbeare? Hamlet
was a brince and he lived in a balace and blayed with
other children. Does it make sense that “a people” would
name “their” country with a letter that doesn’t even exist
in their own alphabet?! The reason is obvious. They don’t
call themselves Falas-tinians because they know they’re
a fallacy!"

the aforementioned article was originally printed at this link.

if you don't receive "the levitt letter" you are missing out on one of the finest free periodicals out there.
